Mike Posted April 12, 2005 Posted April 12, 2005 just posted in site blog, reposted here so all aware Last few days have wasted too much time on Soul Source moderation Moderation has reached a stage where major changes are the only option for the site to continue In last few days , have seen all sorts going on here and each day brings something worse- the latest is seeing a member using the site features to threaten and hassle another member Because of recent going ons there will be major changes to the membership system of the site very soon untill then the following comes into play as from now no new memberships accepted untill the new user system is in place any member found abusing the site or its features will be automatically banned
Mike Posted April 13, 2005 Author Posted April 13, 2005 just posted in site blog, reposted here so all aware As a lot of the problems this site has been having is from anonymous email accounts - soul source will no longer accept any registrations from hotmail, gmail, msn, yahoo type email accounts Any existing long term members using these emails should have no changes to their accounts. However recent accounts or non-post accounts using these type of addresses will be asked shortly to provide a legit permanent email However recent accounts or non-post accounts using these type of addresses will be asked shortly to provide a legit permanent email if wish to continue using the full features of site While this step is unfortunate, abuse of the site and its features in the past and recently has made this step unavoidable New registrations to soul source are now being accepted again
Guest in town Mikey Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Mike I dont know if anyone else is having peoblems but I can view the site, but have real problems trying to read posts or actually post myself. Seems very intermittent. After posting this I probably wont be able to read/log again for hours. Mikey
Guest Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Is it enough if a permanent e-mail is used for registration only, and then another e-mail used for the account for sending and receiving messages and so on? I guess I am established enough a member not to have to bother, but still good to know. Perhaps it would be a good idea if people would also use their real names? Just a thought...

Maybe you should name and shame them, do you think that would stop them?!
TheBigO Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Karen, I dont think they'd give a toss about being named and shamed. Some of these people have very very VERY tough skin sadly. I think Mike is right in what he's doing, at least this way if you have a view you post it and accept comments good or bad.

Billy Freemantle Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Must admit that I have not noticed anything untoward. But it certainly shouldn't be happening. This is a great site. Since I have been a member I have ben tipped towards songs that give me as much buzz as stuff I loved when I was a lad. For an expat non event goer, this a real lifeline.
Ernie Andrews Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Hi Mike- Understand your sentiments but is this not called censorship! While I dont condone threatening behaviour we all make negative comments about certain people or particular issues. If you look at my avatar you would see that I might use the term Hail Caesar! or My army will cut you down like dogs" but its all done in good fun-The problem on this site is that sometimes you dont know whether people are being serious or not and thats very thought provoking which actually makes the site very good. I recently had adissagreement with a friend of mine who then told me via this site that I was barred from the soul nite- To anyone outside my little circle of friends it could have been misconstrued as real hatred but actually we kissed and made up the a couple of days later. So what I am saying is when you get the good you inevitably get some bad with it. Its not all sweet and roses in the garden, but I appreciate it makes your job harder!
