boba Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Hi, can anyone help me out with values for these two 45s on the AMG label: Eddie Simpson - Naked/The Reason Marie Is - AMG Bill Watts - The Hole That Holds The Bones/I Got Jesus - AMG Cheers, Adam. I bought the bill watts on gemm for almost nothing recently. The eddie simpson is one of the most common AMG titles but it is actually pretty good so it's worth a little more, I remember it was actually on ebay recently, maybe sebastian even sold it?
Sebastian Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 maybe sebastian even sold it? I bought it. "Naked" is superb. Can't believe that I got it as cheap as I did ($21.50)! Boba, are you sure that the Eddie Simpson is that easy to find? It's almost ungoogleable (only throws up 7-8 results, and almost all are from discographies and the recent eBay auction). Perhaps it's just fairly unknown so no one has written anything about it on the net?
Guest Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Cheers for the help so far. Bob is Bill Watts always as cheap as the one you got on Gemm or did you just get a bit 'lucky' with it? Agree with both that Eddie Simpson is a great 45, personally think that Bill Watts is pretty good as well . $21 seems like a steal for Eddie Simpson, question though Sebastian...how much would you ask if you were to sell that copy? I did the usual searches etc and like you came up with very little on both of these. Adam.

I consider it a steal as well. Haven't even thought about selling it, but wouldn't let it go for under $150. Probably would take even more than that to get it out of my hands, but that's more down to the fact that I don't have to sell it and that I think it's a great tune.

I used to see the eddie simpson for sale all the time, I thought it was the only AMG title that was actually distributed. The whole deal with AMG was that you would pay the guy to press it and supposedly promote it but he did nothing with it. I actually have eddie simpson with two different label designs, a pinkish one (promo) and the more regular colored one. I don't think any other AMG title exists two different ways. Either way, like any other record, it's rare now I guess.

Is there a good side, isn't it blues? Either way, also, not a 'known' record so that doesn't mean anything if there is a good side, e.g. it could be expensive if known. Bill Watts was one of the many chicago artists on AMG I think, I have a record by him on a weird local chicago label also.
Sebastian Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I don't remember what color the one Sebastian won was. My copy is a pink promo:
