David Ruffin - Walk Away From Love.

Joe, 100% in agreement. Hairs on the back of the neck stuff, even after all those years.

For me Sam Dees - "After all", the most bitter, damning indictment of a lost love.

The greatest soul record ever made IMHO!

You folks must all be hard of hearing...... wink.gif

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On - Tamla

By a country mile.

Haha...didn't realise it was an all time best...just a Soul Artist and their best record!

If it had to be one...suppose it would have to be...

Jackie Wilson - Because Of You

To me it's probably the most complete Soul Record ever...absolutely faultless IMO thumbsup.gif

The Four Tops - Ask The Lonely

Same one for me. Levi's best ever performance in my opinion. If I couldn't have that it'd be Jackie Wilson - Since You Showed me How to be Happy; which just lifts me up every time I hear it.

Maxine Brown - Let me give you my loving

Sounds as exquisite today as the first time I heard it 20 odd years ago.

Good one :D

Mike Terry-Anything he was on!

Kev

too many unbeleivable 60's to just nail it to 1 artist & song? But for sheer understated soul Stevie Wonder 'Lately' Tamla Motown (Songs in the key of life LP.)

Sam Cooke - Sugar Dumpling - you can't describe the record to anyone so you need to play it for them to hear what a cracking tune it is and deservedly in the best soul/Northern soul tune of all time
