Guest Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 News on the soul clubs venue future read more https://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/SoulSourceR...ant-annoucement Not surprised. I dont blame you, you've all been very patient. Good luck to you and I hope you find a new home. Jayne.x
Guest marco i Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Sad news indeed. I've been there just once and really loved it! The same is happening to the venue where our soul club in Genova used to have its events and it is always difficult to change after a long time, I hope you will find a new venue soon ... as Sean would say: "CUM ON!" Marco
Stubbsy Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 That's bad news indeed Haven't been to TOTS recently but when I have, in the past, it's always been a top night ! Hope you find a suitable new venue soon.
Simsy Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 (edited) As said on Saturday, makes me angry to think that the Luton Rugby Club people would treat TOTS organisers so poorly. This credit crunch affects so many people there are those that just don't go out. In my opinion the management could have been a lot more obliging, bearing all this in mind and how much TOTS punters put behind the bar, not to mention the zero trouble ever! Sorry for the rant, but that was a decent venue for a great soul club. I dj'd at Harpenden Rugby Club, which is only a spit and a kick down the road. Decent venue, perhaps that's worth a look? Edited October 2, 2008 by Simsy
Tabs Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Always enjoyed TOTS and the venue. But ultimately it will be there loss. I'm sure you will find somewhere equally as good, if not better. Best wishes Tabs
Guest Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Maddening. I first went to Luton about 4/5 years ago and loved it instantly. The vibe, starting with the friendly welcome on the door, the fab music , enthusiasm of the organisers (Sean, Matt et al take a bow!) great cosy venue (with lovely outside area) was top notch. I rarely missed a TOTS unless I was on holiday. I had a feeling on Saturday at the last one that this news would break shortly after :-( Good luck with finding somewhere else soon lads, I'm sure you will and people will give you the support you definitely deserve for all your efforts. Gail
Guest kid mohair Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Not good to loose a successful soul night due to people that just don't understand,i think the same thing happened to the embankment at wellingborough total were the managers len didn't stand a chance, good luck for the future pete and sean im sure you will be up and running again soon.. Andy.
Guest matt tees Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 TALK OF THE SOUTH SOUL CLUB IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT Talk of the South soul club has decided to end its relationship with the Luton Rugby club. we have used the Rugby club for what is now our eighth year, during that period we have had to deal with the change of bar manager on seven occasions each time having to explain what we do and how we organise our nights. In the past we have mucked in getting the hall ready and generally trying to be of little hassle to the club as possible. The Rugby club has now once again employed new management who are absolutely against any event running past one o'clock with a twelve o'clock bar, this also is only if, the downstairs venue doesn't have a Sunday function which requires bar staff etc. who have also worked the Saturday night,on those nights it would be eleven thirty bar twelve o'clock finish. We had already paid a 50% increase on club hire at the beginning of this year which was covered by an increase on entrance fee so we feel that our only option is to leave the rugby club immediately. What about the future, well as of now, ALL dates are cancelled for the rest of 2008 and 2009. We will endeavour to find a venue that wants us but it will be difficult to replicate what we had at the rugby club.. Finally to all of the people that attended a TOTS night on a regular or occasional basis thank you all for your support. To all of the DJ's that came from all parts of the UK you all created a special occasion for many people. PETE TEBBUTT & SEAN CHAPMAN

chrissie Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 TOTS is one of my favorite nights and certainly a premier soul night on the Beds & Herts calander if not in the country. Lynn did mention this may happen when I spoke to her on Saturday, was just keeping my fingers crossed that Pete & Sean would be able to pull something out of the bag. Saying that though, knowing Sean & Pete I am sure they will come with something as good or if not better. A venue is just a room, what counts are the great people who run TOTS and their enthusiasm, they great DJs they put on and not forgetting the people who always support this great night. Here's looking to moving forward and like so many of us in this area I am certain wherever you move to you will have our unfaultering suport. QoFxx

chrissie Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Merge-a-rooney Dog? Harpenden OK on the rail link from Bedford QoFxx
Simsy Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Harpenden OK on the rail link from Bedford QoFxx Well as said it's a decent enough venue, wooden floor if memory serves. Similar capacity, bar at the end. Not in a resi area. It's a rugby club just down the road from the old one. Would be great. Wouldn't, shouldn't and couldn't be the end of TOTS though would it? Could it?

Guest boots Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 dear pete, lynn, sean and michelle just wanted to send our love and best wishes and to say thank you for all the great nights at luton loads of great laughs and memories, look forward to a new venue, how about all the herts and beds clubs joining together and every couple of months just have a big blowout night, then we can all stick two fingers up at all the management issues, the credit crunch, the soul politics about competition, and all the other issues, there are enough great djs in herts and beds so there would be no need to pay out for djs, just club together for the venue, then split any profits equally at end of night and god forbid you make a loss its spread between a larger group of people and doesnt cause as much heart ache as it does to a smaller club, just a thought anyway thanks again guys for some great memories love kay and ian
Guest Dr Pickles Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Pete / Sean and all the gang. RSG, Luton and Plinston, it was these three clubs that started it all for me. Just want to say thanks for all the brilliant nights we had at TOTS. Hope you find a new venue soon. If you need any help just give us a call Cheers Doc
Guest Andy Kempster Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 even though i havent been able to attend luton as i much as i would have liked to have done pete and lynn have been regulars at hitchin and sean has always supported the hitchin cause. i'm gutted not only for the these guys but also the regular attendees at a very highly respected night, i'm sure everyone will miss it and it'll go down in history as one of the more memorable nights out hopefully you'll get a new venue sorted soon all the best andy
Hammie Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Just looked on Soul Source (Friday night) and am gutted.... What is going on with venue management, as you know Guys we have had the same kind of hassle at the Bedford Ath These people either want to run a club and fill it and make a profit for the club or do they?? As everyone on the scene knows, what a good, hassle free night with the added attraction of consuming lots of alcahol you get from a soul crowd... surely everyones a winner. I think we have sorted out our problems at Bedford and should be up and running again sometime soon. But Hey guys I would like to say well done over the last 8 years some real quality nights, great atmosphere and great company. I just know you'll get sorted OK
Guest matt tees Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 I don't think or hope we are looking at the end of TOTS just a change of venue QoFxx Hi Chrissie, I am sure this is not the end of TOTS and something will come up. Thanks for your unstinting support
