Linda Jones - Just can't live my life

Why can't I get a copy of this for under £30, I remember when they were 10 a penny on the UK release.

It's a vital record to have in any collection and I want one in mine (again).

Used to have it years ago and I still think it is the epitome of Northern Soul.

If you need to take out a mortgage for £30, I'd advise you not to go to HBOS, maybe Alliance & Leicester could sort you out... :(

Tried HBOS, and they said that if the record was 'House' they might have been able to help, Boom Boom!!!

...hope you don't mind my asking but - if you 'used to have it years ago' and its such a 'vital record to have in any collection' (and I agree 100% that it is), how come you sold it?

No I don't mind you asking at all. I was led astray back in the 80s and started to DJ House etc of which I must admit I made quite a name for myself as a House DJ.

I was quite disillusioned with the Northern scene by that time mainly because it had gone quite commercial with the likes of 'Wayne Gibson, Chosen few etc. gettting into the national charts. So in order to fund the music I was playing at the time I sold my Northern collection. Of course Northern runs through my blood and as with so many people, I decided again that I loved it more than anything and needed to start collecting it again.

This decision was made after accidently finding a northern site on the net called 'Night owl', I looked around it and found a sound clip of 'Darrell Banks - Open the door.....' and when it played it literally brought tears to my eyes, and that was that, I was back into it. In the space of 4 years or so, I have now got most of the records back that I had before, and there are just a few that I need to complete my original collection.

Here are the ones I have re-collected and there are still a few to add that I have recently purchased.

Hope that explains all :P

Linda Jones - Just can't live my life

Why can't I get a copy of this for under £30, I remember when they were 10 a penny on the UK release.

It's a vital record to have in any collection and I want one in mine (again).

Used to have it years ago and I still think it is the epitome of Northern Soul.

The UK issue went for £77 a few weeks ago on Ebay...

P.S. Get yourself down to HEAVY SOUL! this Friday!

Wow, that must of taken you ages to type out!

Slightly off thread, so many apologies, but I often wondered about the New York Port Authority track, wondered when & where it got played?

Many thanks,

Pretty sure it was played at the Mecca as a new release back in 1977.

I know exactly what you mean and its happened at least twice in the last few months...you look in the same places two or three times over the space of a few days then it just appears...the work of Satan if you ask me ph34r.gif

That was a one off and a crap night all round really, they were friends of the club owner, hardly in a position to turn them away are we? Anyway, i've seen worse in recent times - 'Religion' anybody..'interesting' crowd that night!? (not a dig at the promoter / DJ's by the way, but not the best choice of venue / area of Leeds for a Soul do..!):D

150 IN, OK NOT BEST VENUE BUT TERESA DID A BLINDING JOB ORGANISING IT, I WOULD SAY 99% OF THE CROWD WERE SOULIES AS FOR THE DJ LINE UP .. :( FLANNY..JOHN (BIFF) GRIFFITHS..MATTY SHERLOCK ..CHAP...FRED WARD..MALLY..NO NOT AN INTERESTING CROWD AT ALL ON YER BIKE DAFT LAD :P
