Shep - Like you I've been paying a whole ot more attention to LP's lately and for me ( a very PO) stick the LP on and listen to it to its entirety. It was made for that and nothing else. All the above mentioned and so many more are essential - Ebay throws up some amazing bargains but they tend to diddle you on P&P. the last record fair I went to I bought approx 25 Lp's for about £40 from one general dealer. Gladys Knight / William Bell / Persuaders / Blue Magic / Pickett / etc etc. What a joy to sit sipping wine on a sunday afternoon listening to these. get SunnySoul on here - He'll tell ya! Also often you have great sleeves, I think that's very cool. So many titles to choose from: Soul Children "Friction" We're getting too close plus a few killer ballads. Steady on Joe, you've obviously never heard Steve Plumb do one of his famed 'LP only' sets. Quite possibly the best 60 minutes of Soul Music I've ever heard played out - anywhere! And he is really reasonable as well. I've got loads of things from him in the past. I dunno how far he is from you but if you came over to Manchester you could tie it in with a visit to Beatin Rhythm at the same time I suppose? Or his website is https://kingbeerecords.co.uk/ (by the way he has far more stock than what's on the website, absolutely hundreds of Northern and other soul 45s too). Its nice when a fellow soul fan gives another a compliment,sounds a bit better than a venue been slagged off or some dig at a dj etc,heres a compliment for Shep dont worry about your high turnover of records its your hard earned that paid for them in the first place and you have great taste,most of my lps went to Al Coney in the late eighties ones I particulary played alot were the excellent the iceman cometh by jerry butler some blinders on there,also all Womack which I have retained on cd ,Dells vs the Dramatics is a most,anyone mentioned THE AWESOME Paulette Reeves album on Blue Candle,also the obligatory Hesitations albums,the list continues ,Jimmy lewis on Hotlanta,Betty Harris,The old Kent lps are certainly worth a punt also,great varying soul music !!!
