MarkWhiteley Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 (edited) Right chaps and chapesses haveing a bit of a clearout to fund the Sammy Gaha on Manship's auction (actually doesn't matter, my wife has the M People CD instead ) Anyway, on with the list..... Contact mob: 07810 707597 email: l_l_m_w@hotmail.co.uk or PM **ALL POST FREE** Viola Wills "The first time" (Bem Sole) Mint cond, super rare semi-known crossover, blinding track. Sold last one I had for £400. OFFERS Swinging Tigers "Snake walk" (Tamla) VG+ cond, one of a handful of known copies. OFFERS Invaders "The best is yet to come" (Brewtown) Looks VG play better, very rare piece, rated £500 by Manship. OFFERS Gary Griffin "Think nothing about it" (HMF) Ex- cond, great mid-tempo late 60s/crossover piece. Books £300. OFFERS Volumes "Ain't gonna give you up" (Karen) Now.......this one ain't exactly pristine, in fact it's far from it. Scratchy vinyl, although it's very shiny. Label has some discolouration plus a bit of wear. It's a bit noisy at the start (quiet start), but plays fine for DJing. It books £300, but I have NEVER seen one for sale. I'd say £500 was a more suitable price for a mint copy. Obviously I don't want book price, but don't want to give it away (it isn't that bad!), so it's open to OFFERS. I probably haven't done it justice with this description, but will play it safe cos I don't want to upset anybody I'm quite happy to play if over the phone to anyone, my number's at the top of the page. Nate Evans "Main squeeze" (Twinight) M- cond. A superb track that's very rarely seen for sale. £550 Rev. George Morton "This is my story" (Hi-Q) Mint cond, absolutely pristine - I doubt a better condition copy exists! There were a few doing the rounds this time last year, but all have disappeared. Heard Ginger play it out, so get it before it goes MASSIVE! £250 Larry Laster "Go for yourself" (Loma) M- cond, WOL, the best release to use this backing, probably the rarest too. I've seen about 10 copies of Ty Karim for sale over the last 4/5 months and not 1 of these. £150 Soul Twins "Quick change artist/Give the man a chance" (Karen) Ex cond, WD with rare label design. Yet another seldom seen classic. I was holding it for a friend who offered £160, but haven't seen the cash yet. SOLD Beverly & Duane "Love" (Brown Bomber) Love side plays M-, flip noisy but clears up 1/3 way through. Books £250. £70 Larry Atkins "Lighten up/Ain't that love enough" (Highland) Mint cond, brill double-sider, rarely seen in this condition. SOLD Moses Smith "Girl across the street" (Dionn) M- cond, matrix reads D MOS 1 then has a symbol that looks like a W sat on an L. It also says B.F., but these might be previous owner's initials. SOLD Commands "Hey it's love/No time for you" (Dynamic) Looks VG plays M- (flip hisses a bit). One of the best double-siders of all-time if you ask me. £50 Herb & Doris "Somebody somewhere needs you" (Hip) Looks VG plays better, rare WD, seen @ £150. £80 Wall of Sound "hang on" (Big Bird) Mint cond, small drill hole otherwise pristine. Rare 1st label before Tower, HUGE at the Casino, still sounds as fresh as ever! SOLD Denita James "I have feelings too" (Flip) Mint cond, brilliant mid-tempo, rarely offered for sale especially in this condition. £80 Tawny Von "Last night" (Entre) M- cond, great record, seen them sell for higher. £50 Robert Banks "Mighty good way" (Verve) Ex+++ cond, would be M- but has light 1/2 inch scuff NAP. Demo, seldom seen oldie £60 Della Reese "A clock that's got no hands" (RCA) Looks Ex plays M-, rare issue. £60 Ben E. King "I can't break the news" (Atco) Looks VG++ plays better, brilliant record, still quite rare. £50 Fuller Bros. "Time's a waistin" (Soul Clock) Mint cond, stamped original. Great classic and not seen for sale too often. £40 Chuck Cockerham "Have I got the right" b/w Richard Caiton "I like to get near you" 7" dubplate Had this cut a couple of years ago, but have since got a copy of Chuck Cockerham, and that was the side I played, so I may aswell sell it. Both are two of the biggest crossover sounds of the moment, to obtain originals of both would cost over £1500. Have this for a 50th of the price - £30 Mark Edited April 8, 2005 by billytheboot

MarkWhiteley Posted April 18, 2005 Author Posted April 18, 2005 A few additions (scans/audio on request) Bobby Young "Your love keeps me cool" (Foxie) M- cond, WD. Mega-rare semi-known dancer, absolutely blinding! OFFERS Ella Woods "Will I ever be loved" (Libra) M- cond. Soul-meets-funk-meets-disco, great and very rare - never seen another. Nice mid-tempo number on flip too but it has a nasty scratch about 1/2 way through that causes a slight tick. Top sides looks/plays pristine.OFFERS Mickey Lanay "I'm gonna walk/Forget yesterday" (Vulcan) VG cond. Seen listed at £100+, B-side is brilliant (best side IMO) - sounds like it should be worth thousands! £40 I'm taking bids on the Viola Wills 45. PM/email if you're interested. Billy
