Guest Martin Coleman Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Demos of Christine Cooper "Heartaches Away My Boy" with Parkway written in a straight line have the release date of 1964 along the bottom of the label. Issues of the same have the release date of 1962 on the label. Does anybody know why? Also demos that have Parkway written in a staggered line have no release date at all. Was this an earlier release, later release, different pressing plant? Thanks.
Prophonics 2029 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I have a few Cameo's with the date on never thought it was anything to do with the release dates of the discs.

Yep, I think it was me being a little dim. "Heartaches Away..." was a 1966 release, so I'm guessing the dates on the label are copyright dates for the name "Parkway". Still not sure why demos would have different copyright dates to issues though.
Prophonics 2029 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Could be a registration for the label.
Dave Pinch Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 if you have a good listen they were trying to emulate supremes back in my arms again that was a US no1 in june 1965 so its certainly not older than that. i think the dates on the parkway demos at the bottom are probably when the label was re registered. similar scenario to the m-pac stable of labels. they say 1963 on them but thats just when the labels started. dave
