Godzilla Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Timi Yuro - Can't Stop Running Away - Mercury MF 859 UK Issue. Going rate anyone? Record Collector says £35 so is that about right / under / over? And while I'm at it - are there still people who only collect British issues of soul stuff? I remember that for a while Wigan was full of the blighters - or maybe it was just the people who I was hanging around with at that time. I steadfastly refused to buy anything on a UK label for quite some time just to be cross awkward with my pals. errr - strayed from the point a bit there - wot's Timi worth then? Cheers, Godz
Guest Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 I know a fella from my City who has collected since the 70's . He bought bundles of things that came out on UK as new releases, he never really did the "Northern" club scene, but had a tremendous amount of records, think he got rid of a load over the years (just ran out of room?). Brilliant to talk to about various tracks etc, and he tells me about getting said items from Woolworths for 10 pence.......... Always interested me about Soul fans who never felt the need to do the "Scene", guess there are plenty, probably a true underground club Brett

He had them going back to the mid 60s - when he first got into collecting - and he used to show them to our gang. He'd say stuff like "this week there was a Doris Troy single on Cameo Parkway, I knew her and I liked the label so I ordered it" Stubsy bought all this Northern stuff as new releases before the DJs had started playing them. But back to the point - does anyone on this forum still collect / know about British stuff? Godz

Godz link Those booklets were called "The New Singles" and when I worked for Music Master I had an almost complete run of them. Actually I photocopied them all and made them into a book but that's long gone. Interestingly, they do have The Volumes on Pama as a new release in that booklet (no one's ever seen one). That Timi Yuro price is about right, another of my discoveries by the way did you see that post I sent the other day that I had the original studio acetate of it that wen5t on 20 seconds longer than the single? Do people collect just British? Yes, but you get to a point when there's nothing left to collect and your collection is rammed with useless pop records
Godzilla Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 That Timi Yuro price is about right, another of my discoveries by the way link Well mine came off Oldham Market (which used to be a proper goldmine) and I left there in 1984 and had more or less stopped collecting by then so I must have picked it up around 80-82. Who really knows who found what first eh? Godz
