Guest Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I am from the karaoke school of dancing. It seems so much better when you sing along when dancing. Obviously knowing at least some of the words help but you can usually get away wiith a mumble through the parts you don`t know At any venue you will see so many different styles of dancing that no one pays any attention. ( God I hope so )
Guest Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Strange thing this "Soul Dancing". I remember being glued to the edge of the dance floor at Rotherhams Clifton Hall about 1982 ?, watching all these people just swaying and grooving to this most incredible music, wanting desperately to join the party, but the nerves inside kept me, for what seems like an age, from taking part.......then over the speakers in almost slow time (like a Peckinpah movie) came the "Q" and "That's The Way", the only analogy I can give is when a ball of magnesium is tossed into a steel bucket filled with water....BANG..... I shot forth onto the floor and never looked back. All my fears were allayed, and I just kept on moving, I'll never be the best dancer, but I know between me and my own personal god that this is my time and I'll continue to enjoy it, till that fellow calls time. Brett Franklin.............
Guest Marcelle Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 who gives a f**k what you look like dancing. the best dancers are the ones with a smile on there face i sometimes dance with my eyes closed link the best way to dance is with your eyes closed... or in my case just take the specs off... one minute your one side of the floor ... then you open your eyes and "f**K" your on another planet...aint no better feeling then wow how did I get here..

wendy Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Hi Dave, life's too short to worry about what you look like on the dancefloor. just get out there & have fun . in another 20 years time your legs mightnt be as good as they are now so dont hold back. i usually fall over when I try spins but I dont care how daft I look anymore. isnt that one of the advantages of getting older?
Guest Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Try Trickster link He said he wants to dance, come on janine get it together Girl. Ken
chrissie Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 lol i think i may have seen her handbag dance and she dont spill her beer link Thinking back Dave, who would notice in the Palace (The Orbit) if you did drop your beer. I was always more worried about the flying chairs aimed by the deeside lot on a bank holiday weekend. Patti Was a great DJ and probably one of the first serious female (???) DJ's on the scene in the UK, but the dance floor was sh*te more like the paddling pool on Rhyl prom some nights. The dance floor at the dixie was far better but not quite the same atmosphere, James Aspinall was a good DJ but he could never match Patti for style. Even when we flirted with punk for a couple of years, and the Alarm (then known as the toilets) played there quite often she would always throw in the N Soul at the end of the night - How did she do it - Top DJ!! Paul R Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 Back around 78 while I was in the Navy, I did both cartilages in my knees doing a backdrop(I think to "There Was A Time") The Navy doctor prodded around and asked "how did you do this, football?". I replied "No, Dancing". He didn't ask any more questions, but there was a strange look on his face. Paul

Ernie Andrews Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 I used to be the fastest shuffler in the west in the 70s then I realised my peg leg was worn out and I was as much use as a one legged man in an arse kicking competition!

So who's gonna give me lessons ?????????? link MAGIC to see somebody talking about Dancing on this Web Site. Makes a change from all the politics, money in the pocket, and self promoting posts going on. Dancers started this movement, by bringing the first underground soul dance music into the country, and dancing to it. No special technique required to take part in those days and non required now. IF YOU ENJOY GET OUT ON THE FLOOR. Top man for bringing DANCING BACK INTO FOCUS. Denis. PS. Wonder if there are any dancers looking at your post who learned how to move around a dance floor to underground soul dance music in the mid 60s in the Cannal-Whitworth Street area of Manchester. If there are Denis would like to make contact with you again. email djsoulspin1@hotmail.com
