stomper45 Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 think a listing of who first played a record where when etc is an integral part of our scene that seems should have more listed bout it, maybe concentrate on top 1000 at first. might be some disagreements but hey.. dannyduggan@eircom.net, am willing to compile/update regularly here if aint done already somewhere. for a start end misconception bout whether a torch, wheel, casino spin etc, artist; title; cover up; location; year; dj;
Paul R Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Whatever it is, Levine either played it or made it. Or it was Russ's uncle.
Pete S Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 This is impossible really because many tracks are not discovered by dj's, they are known to collectors first how tip the dj's off - for instance, The Champion is always associated with John Vincent but it wasn't him who discovered it...

Ps This is true there is a boozer in Leeds that has called its no smoking room the Roy Castle room , I'm still tring to work out as to whether this is a bit distasteful or serves a fundamental purpose in making the dangers of passive smoking known to the general public
Dayo Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I think this is a difficult but interesting idea. For myself I've never "discovered" anything of note - although I seemed to have that Paula Parfitt record at least a year before anyone had heard of it - not exactly a solid or soulful claim to fame is it? lol Would love to hear from others who have had the thrill of a genuine first time discovery. Can you imagine being the first Brit to hear and spin Sandi Sheldon? Oh my God!
