Hiya Tony, Yep, that's exactly the same as mine, be nice if it's a proper issue, picked it up for pennies! Simon

soulmac Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I thought the reissues were from the 70's and were vinyl with a dark blue glossy label. soulmac.

Prophonics 2029 Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 If its a reissue then they used the same stamper to press them up, AT stamp 53 or 23 or 35 and the matriax with 11 at the end.
Mark Bicknell Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I have the white demo, two awesome sides. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

They used the original stampers, hence the dead wax markings. (most likely done at the same time as the Luther Ingram re-issue) But I will say the sound quality on these are as good as the first press. £8 was still a bargain. Regards, Ady.
Ady Potts Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 This is the west coast design (styrene)......
45cellar Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 (edited) This is the west coast design (styrene)...... Many different designs for Karen, the West Coast Design arrived by chance from Soul Bowl and is a Rare one. Not that any are that easy, one day I would love to try for all the variations, but that would take time and a Lottery win. My Stock copy is the 2 Line Copy on Vinyl. The Re-Issue is the first one that I bought, still nice to have. Edited September 13, 2008 by 45cellar

Does anyone know how much this re-issue is worth? Is this a no-no to play out or as it appears to be a proper re-issue from the 7ts is it socially acceptable to play out? Many thanks Simon

45cellar Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 (edited) Cheers all as clear as day now except what a bout the light blue with no lines is this the first issue. The KAREN Label different Pressing Plant / Design, Original 60's Press Why the different design, I'm not 100% sure. Could be a different time or Batch., but I believe just regional pressing plant Variation. West Coast, etc. The CARLA Label also has different Designs depending on Pressing Plant. Prophonics 2029 Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 What about this one then is this a 70ts re-issue.
Guest Simon Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 ............................ How long have i to sit in the coner? Sorry Steve, wasn't trying to put you down, i'm just getting a bit bamboozled, it's an issue/reissue/issue/reissue etc.. Simon
Ady Potts Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 What about this one then is this a 70ts re-issue. What makes you ask that Tony? Is it because the label colour is very similar to the Quick Change Artist second press? If yes, check out the KAREN letters, plus the distance between them.

I see the print now that you say it makes me think the could have copied this style for the reissue.

Correct, they did use the same stamper, it was Atlantic who re-issued it..1972. Same case with Tony & Tyrone - Atlantic, they used the same Monach stamper etc. etc. I've got these 45s fully documented in the new Price Guide 5, they all have desciptions & scans within the pages, explaining all.
Guest NS101 Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 For 34 years now i still dunno the difference between an orig issue and a bootleg. Best go for the demo then. Not too much confusion there. But heres a story you might be interested in. I was hitch hiking to Wigan and was stuck at Forton Services (i think thats the one just outside Lancaster) and time is passing by and nobody is around to give us a lift when a couple of lads show up and they too want a lift and the destination is the same as me. So its chat time while waiting for the non existant transport down the road, 40 miles away. At some point in the conversation i pull out a 60 count box of records i'm taking down the Casino to hopefully sell/exchange to buy other product. The 2 lads take a look and the Soul Twins gets pulled out. I have it marked up at 4 quid. The one lad decides to buy it and even tho i tell him i dunno if its an orig release or a boot, he wants it. Well i know its in demand on whatever copy its out on so i sell it. After all its now about 1.30am and i'm totally pissed off that Wigan, just a few miles away, doesnt look like being on my agenda that night. It's a 2am start and there's no chance i'm gonna get there by then. So I pocket the money and head back to Lancaster disappointed that my night has been rather ruined by the lack of transport but i've got 20 pints worth of beer money paid for during the next week thanks to the sale of a record i loved and still do to this day. (it was only 20p a pint of Scotch Bitter in them days, 1974). And i also learnt a lesson that night. Do not hitch going there, go by train and hitch back. Northern Soul was a learning curve and i learnt something that night/early morning.
