What time should a Allnighter end,I dont know if this subject has been discussed before?

I always like 8am or 7am finish but the trend is 6am now,a 4am i.e. is no use to man or beast I think they call them mini nighters, I think Rugby nighter this weekend is finishing at 5am,what a strange time to finsh.

Rugby doesn't normally finish at 5am, but this one is finishing at 5am because there was already a booking for a boot sale or something on the Sunday morning at 7am. It's happened once before, but this is the last time it will happen from now on.

You've obviously never tried to catch a train on a Sunday morning recently. The earliest trains anywhere are usually about 8 am, but more like;ly to 9am or even 10am

I think nighters should finish around 8, 6am is ok, but more importantly i think they should start much later. It used to be everyone would get to the nighter around ten or eleven after a soul night maybe, certainly after the pubs had closed (when there were licensing laws) so we all felt a bit special when the rest of the world had gone to bed and it was actually night. I don't like these 8 o'clock starts and they probably encourage people to leave earlier in my opinion. Especially the 'leave before 2am and get a fiver back' option, what's that all about? It's either a nighter or a soul night imo. Start at 10 or later, finish at 8am.

This is a very tricky one....but the fact is that people start to leave nighters from 3am on. And after 5am the poor DJ's have a half empty room to play to....also, staff want to get home....I think 6am is sensible now....also, if the room is booked for the next day, the managment need to get some sleep, so they can clean the room, and set up all over again... ....in the old days when there was no alchohol and the venue was just booked for the one night, there was no problem. And of course we were all young, and had nothing to rush home for....

Not heard you or seen you for a while mate,I cant understand people who travel 1 or 2 hours or 4 in your case, to get to a event then leave after 4 or 5 hours,I know you Billy are there until the end.

What niters you been going to phil [quinvy]people are still comin in at 4am at middleton and there is still well over 400 in at 7 30 am,and we are lucky if we get em out of the r n b room for 8 30am.Theres no point sayin niters should start later the decent venues wont let you hire from 12 onwards and most insist on the bars opening early,but if all the soul clubs that run till 2 and 3 am start to close at 11pm i will look into it.Cant see that happening thou .

Technically speaking a "Nighter" should finish as the clock chimes midnight as it is then technically THE morning.

If this golden rule is NOT applied very soon we will have "Nighters" going on for a couple of days and if that happens this will be the demise of the "Nighters" as WE know it .

Now if this mismanagement is allowed to happen then the "Nighter" will be swallowed up into "Weekenders"

The same can also be said about weekenders, you go to work Monday to Friday and have the weekend OFF, or so your boss dictates???? So how bloody come "weekenders" can start on a Friday and last till a Monday.

Now if the bosses start that kinda thinking for a weekend off, then it suits me

Its about time somebody did a 2 week all inclusive package holiday where Soul nites, Nighters and weekenders are all rolled into a 14 day SOUL binge.

All inclusive would HAVE to mean ALL inclusive,there would be white powder everywhere

Serious question phild find me a decent venue that holds over 500 with good facilities parking management etc that will hire to you from 11pm,i cant find one anywere in the north west.

Not too late that you cant get public transport there, and not too early that you can't get public transport back without less than an hours wait either end.

It don't affect you the same Andy, because of the numbers involved. When you have a small nighter, with regular 100 to 200 guests, you don't need many to leave to lose the atmosphere. Especially now with loads of people outside having a smoke, and as you well know, there are only a small amount that dance all night....

I know one or two. I used to run many nighters in the late 80's / early 90's never had too much of a problem finding venues. It's all a question of how much you're willing to pay.

I know of one now that would fit the bill for only a £2k or so hire fee.

Hi kev we seem to be missing each other, i just dun 3 all-nighters on the trot be, missing milddtons 2moz nite (gutted) burnley next week, hav a good 1 2moz nite and all who sail billy

exactly 2k hire fee because of the late start;for us with 3 rooms with minimum 27 djs 3 sets of equipmnt advertiseing door staff etc impossible to break even.Promoteing now and in the past to different things 3 niters on tomra nite plus 20 or so soul clubs on till 2 and 3 in the am.No niter can afford a hire fee like that these days im afraid

This must have changed in the last twenty odd years. When we used to go to Hinckley Leisure centre that didn't start until late because it was still open to the public until late evening and we'd all sit in the Vinery waiting for the nighter to start. Same at Stafford, we'd sit in the Eagle near the train station waiting for the nightclubbers to leave the Top Of The World before we all went in. I dunno, it just felt a bit special that they were all off home to bed and our night had just begun.

Even Wigan, we'd get the last train up after the disco at Stockingford Labour Club had finished. I can't remember getting anywhere before about 11pm.

It's different now because of the licensing laws..as Andy says there's no chance of getting a venue just from midnight as any venue worth its salt would be booked til late (ie til at least 2am) on Fridays and Saturdays. I like the longer hours to be honest, don't miss queueing outside for an hour in the cold...that's nostalgia gone mad!!

Actually i miss even that, a very skinny (and i mean skinny) 17 year old in a thin cotton grandad shirt, hands stuffed in my pockets, shuffling about in the queue. Ah it all comes flooding back

I think the last nighter that I queued for was The Ritz,the one that was free to get in,cant remember when it was though

Just realised I didn't answer the topic question....doh...I think to qualify as an allniter they should end at the earliest 6.

should be midnight till 7 or 8. Your soul night promoters would benefit that way as well. But as already said it's near on impossible to get a venue owner to go for those times. All they think about is what they take behind the bar, most don't care for an all-nighter either as it costs them extra with regards to staffing.

must admit I like 10 'till 6 these days....less traffic when driving home especially if you've travelled a long way

8:00am definately so can go straight to the station as I rarely drive to clubs.

the first train from manchester to leeds is at about 6.30 am . i think nighters should finish about 7.00 , not everyone has a car and it might encourage more people to attend. in winter its darker later and maybe not safe for lasses to be wondering about . also its a bonus to find to find a cup of coffee after a long night out.

those where the days . its amazing looking back just how packed out those places where. we always got there early because we were scared of not getting in {bradford to yate !!!!!!} . though i dont recall people being turned away. i guess the "elf an safety " regulations werent as strict then

For me 6am and that's if i can feel like staying until that time. most nighters go on till say 7.00/8.00 and i have been known to go to the ones in Peterborough and leave by 5.00 cause i am getting tired after all i am there at opening time. i tend to prefer nighter then an all nighter
