Prophonics 2029
Twas a band formed in 1965 from local schools in a town called Pottsville and managed by a guy called Clay Barclay, he also was known for Vic & The Cataliners, The Cataliners, The Intentions, Furys and The Montiques, this is their best track for other records they did were just covers of soul classics Hold On I am Coming, Gimme Some Lovin. I am not sure if this is the same band as Twinkle Little Star. Edited September 12, 2008 by Prophonics 2029 Link to comment Social source share

Guest chorleybloke
is it the same traditions that did a version of the PARISIANS-TWINKLE LITTLE STAR? Pretty sure there's been a thread about the Traditions before. Suspect Twinkle is by a different Traditions, doesn't sound quite as blue eyed as My Life. The Ditalians is the same group as one of the 2 Traditions - one of my current favourites is "I Gotta Go" by these lads, absolute stormer of a dancer on Trip (and Saxony) Cheers Pete Link to comment Social source share

Chalky
I've been in touch with the label owner who recorded the Ditalians and Traditions on Saxony, BArclay etc. The band members for the Saxony/Barclay Traditions were Joe Graziano Vocals & Keyboard, Ted Alex drums, Gregg Stankunas bass & lead vocal, Paul Betz, Anthony Testa and Mike Mc Clain on Guitar. The manager was Ron Metz. I think it's a different group to the Abet Traditions even though they recorded in the same town. The label owner wasn't sure if they were the same or not but to me they are at least different lead singers???? One sounds white the other not so white to these cloth ears. I'll dig out the mails and correspondence I had from him and see what they actually say. Edited September 12, 2008 by chalky Link to comment Social source share

Chalky
going through some old e-mails here's a photo of the Pottsville Traditions....the ones who recorded on Barclay. Think the photo is out of Heey Baby Beach Days and I sent it along to Paul Trefzeger of Saxony Records etc. He said the guys looked only vaguely familiar but then again he saw them just a couple/few times. This ain't no cover version, good double sider, "Oh my Love" is a uptempo niter sound after the opening seconds of do-wop wailing, while "Girls" is another nice group dancer. Copy for sale if anybody is interested £75, and much rarer than "My life". Link to comment Social source share

"Girls b/w Oh my love", hardly known compared to "My Life", which if memories serves me right was quite a popular play back in the 80's. Link to comment Social source share

Anoraks Corner
"My Life", which if memories serves me right was quite a popular play back in the 80's. Tail-end of the 70's / early 80's this was covered up as 'Little Joe Roman - My life with you' and was a Gary Rushbrooke Casino spin...that's where I first heard it anyway.
