Harrogatesoul Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Quick check on JM & Moerer.. UK numbering seems to make sense - 19501 / 02 / 03 But the Us numbering system seems to be all over the place prefixing 76### 77### 78## doubt there were that many releases! Might have a (uncomplete) one on the Pc at home John. Rich
Reforee Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 The US numbering for Kwanza label seems all over the place because it is consisitant with the numbering of the US Warner Bros label. These releases came out on WB as well and the numbers are the same for both labels, thats why there are big gaps in Kwanza label numbers as other releases on WB did not come out on Kwanza label. I have a list of 9 issues on this label. No time at present but if you want them listed I will try to put them on tonight. Hope that helps The Man In Black

Sean Hampsey Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 7678- Classic Sullivans- Paint Yourslef In A Corner / I Don't Want To Lose You 7685- Sheila Ross- Miracle Of Miracles / You Hold My Life in Your Hands 7688- Spyder Turner- Since I Don't Have You / Happy Days 7703- Bobby Byrd - I'm On The Move / Try It Again 7714- Robert Dobyne - Spent A Lot Of Years / Buddy 7715- Classic Sullivans - A Ring Don't Mean A Thing Without Love / Right Before My Eyes 7739- Terry collins - I L.O.V.E. You / Action Speaks Louder 7766- Terry Collins - The Show Must Go On / Action Speaks Louder 7800- Black Ivory - What Goes Around / No One Else Will Do Have completed the flipsides. I think that's the entire US label. Highlights for me are the two Terry Collins releases and the Robert Dobyne. The three UK releases were:- Classic Sullivans- Paint Yourself In a Corner Black Ivory - What Goes Around Spyder Turner- Since I Don't Have You The following also gained a UK release on the WB logo:- Terry Collins - I L.O.V.E. You / Action Speaks Louder Than Words I've never seen any of the Kwanza US appear on the WB US Logo that I can recall, although Dave is correct in that it was a WB stable label! Not the hardest to collect, but some nice output! Sean

Not the hardest to collect, but some nice output! Sean I mentioned this on another thread, but in my experience, the hardest title to find with the b-side is the robert dobyne. The spyder turner is also hard to find. I think I've never seen the sheila ross and spyder turner as promos without the b-side though. I think Sheila Ross was Sheila Ross of the royalettes because Teddy Randazzo is a writer on the record.

Agree, Robery Dobyne is probably the hardest issue. Terry Collins "Show" is also quite hard on an issue with flip (BEEEEEEEAUTIFUL record by the way). Sean
John Reed Posted September 11, 2008 Author Posted September 11, 2008 (edited) Cheers chaps. It was Bobs comments on the Robert Dobyne flip on the other thread that got me thinking about my missing numbers. Definately my faves are Terry Collins and Robert Dobyne. Steve, It'll be great if you post up a scan of the issue. Baz, Pat posted up Robert Dobyne in the sweet & deep thread. Cheers, John Edited September 11, 2008 by John Reed

I also have the Robert Dobyne on issue, but no scan of it to hand - but I do have a copy of the Warner Bros issue of Terry Collins "Show..." Not US though, but from Argentina [ Edited September 12, 2008 by John Benson

I also have the US Purple issue and the US WD. Just a great record mate! Sean
John Benson Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Yes I'm back! ... I've been having a look through the one's I have on this label and including the 3 UK Kwanza releases (Classic Sullivans, Black Ivory and Spyder Turner) and the two UK Warner Bros singles (Terry Collins & Bobby Byrd) - it looks like I only need the Sheila Ross single to have a copy of each release on a 7". Although there's a few more to get to have a copy of each US release... Anyway, more to the point - just what is her 45 like? I know it's not all that hard to pick up, but is it any good?
