Do u think anyone has/would attend one of these - over to yorkshire lot is that why u are suddenly oh so stylish>> LOLOL

Well Doris - How they going to teach someone to spin and fall over hitting the next dancer -Will they teach about ettiquet when you have just smashed into some nice young lady!

I think I met that spinning person myself on more than one occassion it would be interesting to know what the schedule involves:

Picking a pair of shoes 9.00am

Deciding on the look - retro wigan/mecca or more up to date look dependent on the waist line 9.30

How to spill your drink whilst drunk, barge into other dancers (spatial awareness an option extra) and cover the floor in talc (non original johnsons of course) pissing everyone off 10.00

an alternative dance for the newcomers/gatecrashers - to dance exotically in a pole dancer fashion as u haven't got a clue but think u look sexy ??

That class is actually held where I'm living now, but I don't know anywaone who's been. Me? personally I just wish I could actually step n slide/glide !

Anyone that has to go to dance classes to learn how to dance to Northern, obviously just hasn't got the point have they?

Most of us on here, I would imagine, learned to dance by going to to Soul nights/The Youth Club (for us oldies), keeping a low profile at first, watching the other dancers, practicing a bit at home then, when we felt confident enough, venturing onto the floor!

Fine tuning then done by watching other dancers and incorporating the bits that you liked to develop your own individual style!

To outsiders we probably look as though we're all dancing the same but not so!!

Anyone on here ever gone to a dance class? (don't mean practicing moves with fellow soulies in the confines of bedroom, living droom etc.)

Can't wait to see the first ones who actually venture to a soul nite to try their new steps out, it could be night fever all over again, what a laugh that was seeing these white suits hit the floor.

Gotta tell yer this about my brother Michael, forgive me mate if you ever read this xx.

I was born in 1962, six years after my older brother. What this did was place us very much in opposing camps as far as music was concerned, he was a fookin long haired hippie trippy greaser into Black Sabbath, The Stones, Led Zepp and such like. Nowt wrong with that stuff but remember back then your record collection defined who you where, or at least it gave the veneer of who you wanted to be.

I took the same path as most reading this, Motown, Soul, and of course Northernsoul. The youth club disco's then later the Mecca and the odd visit to the Casino saw me enter the dance floor and become a bit of a mover!

Ten years ago Michael started asking what Northernsoul was and showed a strained interest in the music but he was always asking about the dancing. It turned out that he'd met Mandy, who would later become his second wife. Mandy was slender porcelain girl who loved and adored ballroom dancing to the extent where our kid was going to miss out on smashing her back door in if he didn't get with the program and start to go with here dancing.

The problem was that he had two left feet and as much rhythm as Dave Rimmer! Undeterred he enrolled into one of these dance schools and spent a considerable amount of time and money chasing the dream. Six months later he emerged like a butterfly having kept all this secret from Mandy and dbuted at her local ball room.

He still can't fookin dance and just looks like a complete twatt who has spent a lot of time learning some thing that you either can or can't do.

Mandy of course fell head over heals for him and as all women love a tryer he is now happily married.
