John Reed Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Its one of those bad disco records you'd expect to hear on a program like The Love Boat or any of the other Aaron Spelling programms around the mid to late 70's. Saying that I think it's a great dancer, but sadly is quite a good example showing that not everything "Northern" is soul.
Sebastian Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 So was Pip the arranger or producer Pip was "music director".

John I take it you haven't read all the thread, as you would know of Pete99s love of the said record I now feel a tirade of abuse eminating from the Nottingham area but don't worry he's all "fook off"

I think it's a great dancer - and has already been said it sounds great played out on a good system. It's certainly always been a dance floor winner. If you place this particular record at the side of some of the real shite that has been played out it's quality. Outgoing, incoming blah de blahdy blah!

Guest in town Mikey Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 (edited) "Dear Car Mechanic Of The Year It's this bloke https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Rainbow " Pete any reason they do not mention his Mickey Moonshine material would never have guessed he was a Scotsman Its was probably a Bungle. Maybe he thought moonshine sounded more Zippy. I think his real name was Geoffrey Hat Coat Gone Edited September 10, 2008 by in town Mikey

bri pinch Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 (edited) I remember that, did it go something like 'give me what I cry for, what my heart would surely die for, take me to the ? that I love' - something like that? I haven't heard that for over 30 years! GIVE ME WHAT I CRY FOR, WHAT I WOULD HAVE GLADLY DIED FOR, TAKE ME TO THE YOUNG YEARS THAT I LOVE. R, THAT'S THE ONE PETE , REMEMBER, JOHNNY WALKER ALWAYS USED TO PLAY IT ON RADIO 1. BRI PINCH. Edited September 10, 2008 by bri pinch
Steve G Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 It's f*ckin Chris Rainbow. Levine isn't right all the time. Pip Williams was the arranger or producer. Levine say "No" it wasn't Chris Rainbow. Someone else says it wasn't Pip Williams cos he can't sing......so it's still a mystery

Sean Hampsey Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Who's bin dissing it? I fookin like this record - a great dancer. So - just who is Mickey Moonshine? It's Christopher Harley. He changed his name in the early 70's when Steve Harley came to prominence.
Guest Paul Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 These are nothing but myths. Mickey Moonshine doesn't sound like Chris Rainbow to me. And I already said on Ian Levine's thread that it isn't very likely to be Pip Williams the arranger. Does anyone actually have an idea that isn't just a wild guess??? I'm waiting for someone to suggest "Mickey Moonshine" was Sir Cliff Richard or Sir Gary Glitter or Sir Donny Osmond. Paul Mooney

Guest Paul Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 A bookmaker could make a few quid here. Pete Smith could lose a fortune. Steve G can probably afford to lose a few quid anyway. Sean Hampsey is probably wondering how much to stake on it being Chris Rainbow. Be careful, Sean! My money is on "nobody wins".
