Harrogatesoul Posted September 3, 2008 Author Posted September 3, 2008 Soulful Sound Of Music - Sound Of B'Ham Acetate Steve. Rich
Guest Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 What was the title on the Bobby Dobyne? 'Soulful Sound Of Music'...and £275 was IMO way too cheap. Would take a lot more than that to make me even think about selling mine.
Steve G Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Thanks everyone a bar-gin. He did a much later one around 1980 with a fakking great title which is as rare as they come - sadly not too good a record though.
Sebastian Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 'Soulful Sound Of Music'...and £275 was IMO way too cheap. But it was an acetate and that track also gained a "real" 45 issue, this generally seems to have an effect on the price. Great tune in any case!
Sean Hampsey Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 But it was an acetate and that track also gained a "real" 45 issue, this generally seems to have an effect on the price. Great tune in any case! Yeh, pretty sure I have the issue of that 45. Yellow & Black label Sebastian? Sean
Sean Hampsey Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Dobyne was, of course, one of the 'Artistics'. His "Spent A Lot Of Years" on Kwanza is a deepie / ballad well worth picking up (IMO). Sean
Guest Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Yeh, pretty sure I have the issue of that 45. Yellow & Black label Sebastian? Sean Sean, yes it's a yellow/black label...Crown Ltd. Wasn't an acetate on auction though, but a vinyl test pressing. Actually think the flip is just as good.

IMVHO I love the tune !
boba Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Yes that is a great record too. I love how he says "HO-ney" (like all southern sounding) on both I want you to make my life over and on Spent a lot of years. Spent a lot of years is very hard to find as an issue with the flip.

It definitely sounds different to the Stereo mix and is only on the original. I always play the Mono side out........keeps the Soul Police away Cheers Steve
Steve G Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 keeps the Soul Police away Cheers Steve But you are a member of the soul police Stevie.
Tommaso Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Isn't that Don & Debbie sooo cheap?? In the last 3 months, I've seen one on ebay at 700$ (vg+) and another couple at 400£+ (I think).
Steve Plumb Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 But you are a member of the soul police Stevie. Thanks for blowing my cover Steve Anyway that report you asked for on that DJ will be on your desk tomorrow morning Cheers Ian Blair

Ady Potts Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Just noticed this on Johns auction. John, I think you'll find the "Monster Masters" are vinyl Ruby Jean - Empty Words - SBK Jeeze! The very first label! Near everyone has only ever seen this 45 on the styrene, "Monster Masters" label.......

Prophonics 2029 Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 What was the title on the Bobby Dobyne? Was a sound file ever put up for this I looked a few times never found it.
Guest Gavin Page Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) But you are a member of the soul police Stevie. Point well made by the statment of playing the Mono side I get my CDRs, Boots and Coat and go Edited September 4, 2008 by Gavin Page

The very first label! Near everyone has only ever seen this 45 on the styrene, "Monster Masters" label....... Is the flip the same? I vaguely remember bidding on it the one time I've seen it on ebay and don't remember it having the "no no never again" side which is the side I know on the monster masters record, but I remember listening to it and thinking it was a nice northern side.
Steve Plumb Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Yes self incrimination by Mr Plumb I repeat.......................Thanks for blowing my cover Steve Anyway that report you asked for on Gavin Page will be on your desk tomorrow morning Cheers Ian Blair
