For me it has to be "Go on Fool" Marrion Black, Pat Brady played it a few times at Queens Hall Bradford, cleared the floor but, what a tune

Would appreciate it if someone out there could post it

Cheers in advance

The version of "someday we'll be free" from Donny's famous live lp is a particularly soulful version.

What a great artist he was , social commentary delivered in such an expressive and enlightening way.

could write a page on these ,but one outstanding personal fave is "jerry fuller" turn to me..on challenge (other side of double life)

Funnily enough this is my favourite record of the moment - although I'd classify it more as a beat ballad than a 'regular' one.

To my eternal shame I have owned a copy of "Double Life" for more than 30 years, and I only thought to turn it over recently while researching repertoire for the Jerry Fuller CD that I've just done for Ace. I can't believe that I'd been depriving myself of its brilliance for nearly four decades...

Also love Jerry's other beat ballads "I Get Carried Away" and "Whatever Happened To The Music", both of which I have known longer than a fortnight, of course....

I love this one too. It has the power to reduce me to tears.

I love Perfect Boy by Dottie Cambridge the b'side of Cry Your Eyes Out also amongst many others!

Suz

I think you hit the nail on the head there Suz - A great ballad does just exactly that! If I was with my collection now I'd feel an evening of maudlin soul ... Hey is that a new genre??
