Guest Paul Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Hello everyone, There may be some confusion because some of the Innovation II releases were distributed by Warner Bros who had funded the label. The label was owned by Carl Davis and E Rodney Jones. I think Marshall Thompson of The Chi-Lites was involved in A&R. By the way, the Barbara Hall tracks were actually recorded down in Atlanta, not in Chicago as most people assume. Tommy Stewart played on those tracks. Best regards, Paul Mooney
Pete S Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 We need to be aware of your motives No, only you and maybe 3 other people want to know, the rest of us don't give a toss about his cv, we're just interested in what he's got to say, why don't you just set up your own thread for the four of you to slag Levine off and leave the rest of us to enjoy the topic Paul?
Pete S Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Thankyou for the tips Ian, i'll check 'em out on the web. I do like some Modernish stuff like Star Trek (TNG) & Sliders. Simon Doctor Who, Babylon 5, Star Trek - whats the matter with you people, are you CHILDREN or something, do you still watch Blue Peter?

Pete S Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 i didn't know blue peter was sci-fi i will have to start watching it I didn't say it was, I was inferring it was a kids program like Doctor Who, babylon 5 and Star Trek, smartarse
Guest Paul Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Have you heard "Bubblegum Breakthrough" By The Quadrophonics?Hello Andy, Here's an interesting fact... There were four members of The Quadrophonics but two members left and they changed their name to The Stereophonics.

Best regards, Paul Mooney That's right Paul - some of the Inn II release came out twice too, with Inn II release numbers AND Warners numbers including Quadrophonics & Wales Wallace BUT don't recall seeing them on WB..........unless maybe they were released in Canada or summat, in which case they 'may' have been on WB???? Anyone? btw Both Barbara Hall 45's on Inn II are ace!!!!!!! Cheers Steve

Mike Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 IAN LEVINE CURRICULUM VITAE NAME: Ian Geoffrey Levine BORN: June 22, 1953 in Blackpool PARENTS: Began in business with a dress shop in the 1950's, then a chain of shops in the1960's, then bought the Lemon Tree casino and nightclub in Blackpool in the 1970's. 'They made an awful lot of money and moved to Miami.' Father died in 1996. Mother runs the finances for Ian's companies. EDUCATION: Arnold Grammar School for boys, in Blackpool. Seven O' Levels, three A' Levels. Played rugby at school. Then dropped out Manchester University in 1971, 'I had no interest' POST REMOVED, CENSORSHIP Yesterday, I posted Mr Levines cv, that he actually wrote for his website, which, I think its fair to say, is a tool for promoting himself. I am reposting it (without comment!), as I think you can draw some interesting conclusions from it. But I will leave that to you. I also think that SS is being bullied and in some ways , manipulated by Mr L, as I wrote nothing libelous or untrue in my comments. It is ridiculous that Mr L asks for posts to be removed that he does not agree with......its only positive comments he wants folks, so let the congratulations continue. I would NEVER ask for ANYTHING to be removed that was written about myself. I have NOTHING TO HIDE OR BE ASHAMED OF. . There is nothing like good, honest, truthful, debate and this thread IS nothing like good, truthful, honest debate. I trust this is positive enough for you to leave on Mike? Let the self promotion continue. Thanks Paul-S. Paul it was the made up quote that mentioned his mother that was given as a reason for reporting and that was the reason why your post was removed nothing to do with censorship cheers mike
Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 The other side of the Perception String Orchestra "Bet You If You Ask Around" was Velvet. But the same song was retitled "Betcha If You Check It Out" by the Quadrophonics. So why do I keep thinking that was on Warner Brothers ??? Ian Yes it was issued on US Warners Bros. I used to own an issue of it. Derek
Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Can anyone confirm if The Quadrophonics was also issued on Warner Brothers, please ???? Nope! But a load of other stuff was! Andy. Rubbish. QUADROPHONICS Betcha If You Check It Out WARNER BROS. 8019 74 c/w QUADROPHONICS Prove My Love To You WARNER BROS. 8019 74
Steve Plumb Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I am certain I have Quadrophonics on Warner Bros - 99.9% in fact. Hi Steve Be interesting to see if it's a US issue? Like i said, i have it twice with Inn II # and a WB # but both on Inn II It does make sense that it did crop up on WB though............they re-promoted it when WB took over distribution (I think Inn II operated as an indie for the first few releases) and possbily pressed up the first copies on WB! Wonder if Wales Wallace got the same treatment cos that got two releases too! If it is Steve, you probably have a very rare reissue Cheers Steve

What a fabulous idea. I hope it happens. I shall steer clear if it does, just as I wouldn't dream of going on a country and western forum and telling them all how much I hate their music. Which when you think about it only seems logical. Mind you, I DO have a life.....
Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Doctor Who, Babylon 5, Star Trek - whats the matter with you people, are you CHILDREN or something, do you still watch Blue Peter? Doctor Who and Babylon 5 are the most creative sci-fi ever produced. And Babylon 5 is the most adult sci-fi ever produced. Now hush-up, Smiffy, before I start slagging Bowie and Reggae.
Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I am certain I have Quadrophonics on Warner Bros - 99.9% in fact. Yes because I am certain that it was. Released twice on separate labels, and the Warners one is much rarer. I'm usually right about these kind of things. I have forgotten more information than a lot of today's Northern Soul DJs have amassed in their entire lifetime.
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 (edited) Ian - in respect of tracking down / locating Motown affiliated artists , did you ever attempt to find The Dalton Boys ? I asked Esther Edwards during a visit to 2648 in 1979 about them , but her recall was limited , stating only that she could recall that BG had found all the other vocal aligned material except for " I've Been Cheated " , was inferior , and he had the tapes of the recordings destroyed ......... Malc Burton They became a pretty collectible garage-psych group called Colours, Malc. A CD of their complete recordings has just been issued by Cherry Red. The booklet talks about their days with Motown, too... Edited September 2, 2008 by TONY ROUNCE
Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Paul it was the made up quote that mentioned his mother that was given as a reason for reporting and that was the reason why your post was removed nothing to do with censorship cheers mike Thankyou Mike. My Mother has lost both her husband and her daughter, has put money into my business that she can never recover, and has been a Saint to me, through thick and thin, and it hasn't been easy no matter what others think, especially the money that both Motorcity and SWONS lost, and his rewording of those words was simply cruel and heartless.
Sebastian Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Having investigated I found I was correct. The Quadrophonics was issued on Innovation and then reissued on Warner Bros itself, WARNER BROS. 8019, just like I dimly remembered. It was issued twice on INNOVATION II, first with catalogue #7826 and then as #8019 (same number as on Warner Bros). I also seem to remember having seen it on a US Warner Bros 45, and it would be nice to see a scan of the WB 8019 label to confirm it. Here are the INNOVATION II ones:
Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Ian Yes it was issued on US Warners Bros. I used to own an issue of it. Derek Thankyou for yet another confirmation. Andy Simpson, also known as "The Pittance", you will apologise please, as your memory has become like swiss cheese.

Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Yes it was issued on US Warners Bros. I used to own an issue of it. Talking of Warner Bros 1970s classics, what was that amazing monster we used to play at Blackpool with a Philly Groove logo on the Warners Label, by Quickest Way Out ????

Either "Who Am I" or "Thank You Baby For Loving Me", more likely the former I think - they're both great!
Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Either "Who Am I" or "Thank You Baby For Loving Me", more likely the former I think - they're both great! Yes it was "Who Am I". WELL remembered.
Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Treat for today, for all the soul fans who WOULDN'T go onto a Country and Western website just to tell them on there how much they hate their music. And dedicated to Simon White, whose wicked wicked wicked, just WICKED, little joke in Manifesto, as Hettie Catlitter, made me literally cry laughing. ">
Steve Plumb Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Yes it was "Who Am I". WELL remembered. Also done by Flashlight on their Philly Groove LP! Think Flashlight & QWO where the same group? Anyone confirm? Could even be the same recording but would need to dig them both out and check? There are other tracks from the LP that were recorded by QWO too! Cheers Steve
Guest Glawster Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Never seen it i'm afraid Ian, i like 'Babylon's burning' by The Ruts though if that's any help? Simon PMSL

I'm quite proud that I remembered this after all these years, and after so many of you saying it wasn't on Warner Brothers.

Sebastian Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 GREAT scan posted above of the WB issue of Quadraphonics! I'm including it in this post as well so those who can't view BMPs can see it as well. It has got the "early" number though (7826, not 8019). Wonder if it came out on WB as 8019 as well?
Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I am rather fond of Stargate as well Tried but couldn't get into it. Same with Battlestar Galactica. I like quirky character driven sci-fi like Doctor Who and Babylon 5. Not the dull American stuff like Star Trek, Stargate, and Battlestar Galactica.

Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Thought Babylon 5 was American too? Certainly was a classic of TV, either way...."NOW GET THE HELL OUT OF OUR GALAXY" It was American but was nothing like any other American show and stood out head and shoulders because of it. A meticulously crafted five year novel for television. Breathtaking and a work of genius. "No One here is quite what they seem" "If you go to Z'Ha'Dum you will die" "They're like giants in the playground and they don't even know we're here". "No no. There are ten of us. All pronounced differently, you see ??? Zathras. Zathras. Zathras. Zathras. Zathras. Zathras. Zathras. Zathras.Zathras. Zathras. Now you see ??? " "What do I want ?? I want to live just long enough to see them cut off your head and stick it on a pike as a reminder that some favours come with too high a price. I would stare up at your lifeless eyes and wave. Can you do that for me, Mister Mordern" ??? "I'm dead. They cut off my head and stuck it on a pike. The dead don't lie, Lennier".
Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 This video is Wicked wicked wicked just WICKED ! thank you Ian Top ten . I love you to bits Chalky, but is it my imagination, or do you only ever pass comment on the videos from Detroit ??

During the entire Earth/Minbari War, only one Earthman ever destroyed a Minbari Warship. He is behind me. You are in front of me. If you value your lives, BE SOMEWHERE ELSE". Most exciting moment in the entire history of television.
