Denbo Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I swear I don't ever remember seeing that record before in my life. But if I did sell it you, it was a mistake, it was my best mates record and he's asked for it back so if you could do the decent thing... Yes, but your best mate borrowed it off me!!!
Rotherham Soul Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 (edited) Just had a look on >>> PopSike.com <<< All are Lilac Stock Copies, just like my copy. At least Three different DEMO Variations though. ALL SCANS COURTESY OF PopSike.com I'm guessing that this is the White DEMO to that release. Top one definate west coast styrene press (Delta 60446) and has still got the RCA machine stamped matrix number T4KM-1792-1-A which i've never noticed before on a Monarch press and also scratched in ALI 175314 (Iis this the motown master number?) What is the value of the demo then .Paid £30 for mine at the Ritz about 8 years since Edited August 23, 2008 by rotherham soul

The PopSike / Ebay price was $190 11-03-2008 However, to my way of thinking that copy slipped under the radar. The Stock Copy went for £409 as mentioned in this thread. I believe that the West Coast may also be it's rarest White DEMO format. Edited August 23, 2008 by 45cellar

45cellar Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 (edited) You are certainly right, MONACH seemed to have retained the "SOUL" label blanks and used them up on #'s from 35020 to 35029. But there are some of these #s in vinyl using the lilac & white design also. Frances Nero I've never seen in vinyl (or can't remember) as a White & Lilac but other commoner #s from 35020 to 29 I certainly have. Bit puzzling, but you are 100% correct in assuming a lilac and white label in the 35020s is much more likely to be a West Coast Monach press, than a vinyl press. #29 the label universally changed as I've never seen a 35030 in lilac and white. I have just received an email from Carl Pellegrino at Motorcitymusic who isn't a member yet but wanted to contribute with the following scans. The elusive Soul S-35030 - (Lilac & White) hello roger, i was reading the soul source forum and wanted to make a contribution but i'm not a member yet. see the attached label scans and feel free to post them. best, carl re: John Manship's Auction 20.08.08 ps my wife found it a couple years ago, it's a columbia styrene pressing. best, carl An Extremely Rare Label Variation. Many Thanks Carl for sharing the Information. Edited August 29, 2008 by 45cellar

cloth ears Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 When the lovely Dave Rivers gets 12million hits a month on his record box, I think he'll sell it. 12 million people looking through my record box??? when are they coming, better make some tea & sandwiches for them.
