Jez Jones Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 well yes I bumped into 2 lads only last friday gone . I went to a Keith Minshull promotion at Congleton Town Hall last friday and met 2 gents I had not seen since mid/late 70's . Terry poole and Willie Click!. Willie reminded me of when he used to run Minshull about back in the day to soul do's. He was quite put out though that he had to pay to get in on the night . he also reminded me that he had quite a collection as well funny how you remember the important bits
Dean Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I'm usually the embarrassed one stood there trying to jump start my memory as someone recalls past events that I was part of when all I can think of is "Who the hell are you!" Worse when current friends are waiting to be introduced and I can't, other than to say "This is someone I may have known at some time in the past". By the way, If you're reading this and have been speaking to me recently about long past times - I don't mean you obviously . There are some old friends in my head that I'd love to run into, some are even alive, but I never see them ever. Do you think I've just made them up? Expect to see me wandering around in slippers soon.

I have the same problem with quite a few folk i have met in the last few years, never mind going back to my youth.. Slippers and dribbles coming from me soon while i shout at the tv and it aint switched on

We keep in touch, I went to his wedding in Hong Kong where he lives, we DJ'd together in the Philippines and we went to Soul USA in 2006. It's like you've never been apart. Chris L

With so many Born Again soulies attending venues have any of you had a similar experience? Ed I saw a few faces I hadnt seern for a long long time at the Stafford reunion (held at the Queens theatre in Burslem a few years ago) ...really good experience. However, I was just saying to a friend earlier, that on Saturday I saw someone (an old soulie who used to be one of "the gang" when we went to soul nights in the early eighties) I hadnt seen once since then (ie; twenty plus years ago) and that was by no means a pleasurable experience. The (nameless) bloke in question looked absolutely awful, and without a doubt it was caused by too many drugs...his face, skin and body were ravaged...not nice at all! Really shocked and saddened me actually. Edited August 25, 2008 by Delasoul
