Main trouble would be risking the sound system being impounded...I think the oldies would love a treasure hunt soul night though...would be like the old 80s CB Radio days!!

LOL biggrin.gif

Shame the 80's & 90's warehouse parties have gained the reputation they did with the media etc.

The 80s & 90s all-night warehouse parties took their idea from the Northern Soul frat in the first place Jayne. They just took it outside because they were into hugging trees.

I half expected someone to tell me something like that.. I guess that would make sense..

Bit budget a do with no bar .. thmbdn.gif

Think I'd swerve it..

I fed that back and was asked, well if you weren't doing it on the cheap, you paid a lot of attention to all crucial factors, decent dancefloor, decent sound, security

and all other facilities. Would it be acceptable?..

(Can you tell it's a quiet day in the office!)..a little more research told us that one of the best asian restaurants in Manchester doesn't have a licence. Top of king street in a very nice part of manchester, its a big restaurant, very plush etc but just alcohol free.. If foodies can enjoy food without alcohol, can we enjoy a soul night and dance without it?.. g.gif

I can't drink and dance so no problem for me...don't drink

Maybe it could be a soul night for recovering alcoholics or narcotics anonymous ohmy.gif

After all these years does it still take alcohol to loosen everyones tongues.

And I am sure if you did a really good bag search at any venue throughout the country guess what...you could set up a bar.

it would make people question why they go to do's ..... do they go for the music or the social (most people do both of course) but can they be socialable without a drink . in britain these days people can't seem to be able to get on a train or plane without drink so i don't think they'd go out without having one

That would work if you bring your own and i could just bring a bottle of coke and have that poured into a cup or glass if i bring one.

I don't drink you see, downside is not having it cold unless you bring a fridge. No different to bringing snacks when going out.

me and dad always bring crisps to eat saves buying at the bar

Just a wondering...

Do you think in this day and age, with the scene as we have it now that a venue can survive without a licenced bar?..

If its the right venue, perfect in every way except without a bar (but you could bring your own)...could it work?..

Thoughts appreciated, either by pm or by reply...

Ta.
