Need some help here, Does anyone know of or have a listing for all the unissued shrine tracks.

I have found an acetate, and want to cross check.

Will post clips and details later of what I think may be an unreleased Prophets or Cairos related thing.

there's quite a few instrumentals and acapella versions knocking about.

Is this totally different as in not heard before Andy? Any clues as to why to think it could be Shrine?

Okay, done some research and now think I have got to the bottom of it.

Here are the 2 tracks from the 2 sided acetate

01_THERE_IS_A_PLACE_2.mp3

02_DON_T_FIGHT_LOVE_2.mp3

This acetate came to me in a small clutch containing 4 Shrine 45s a couple or 3 years ago. The guy who owned them was a studio engineer from Baltimore/DC.

I now know for certain who the artists are and will reveal shortly... any guesses???

IS IT THE COUNTS OR TIPPY AND THE WISEMEN

the b-side sounds like the Cautions - but both sides sound too late for Shrine - almost as if they were tracks recorded by Keni Lewis after Shrine folded, the voice on the first track reminds me of Keni on his Buddah release.

Yes Pete, they do.. very much so, almost uncanny similarity to Shrine recordings/productions.

The acetate came to me in a batch of Shrine 45s which included The Enjoyables, The Cavaliers and The Cautions (Watch Your Step).

The acetate tracks are in fact unrelated. They turn out to be The Sinceres. 'There is a Place' is credited to harry Williams & The Sinceres, While the flip 'Don't Fight Love' is credited to the Karla Klugh & The Sinceres.

What I don't understand is what the Sinceres were doing in Texas, as this is a Damon acetate from Damon studios in Texas. The Sinceres, I thought had their roots in Mousouri / Kanas before moving out to LA in 1972. A bit of a Mystery to me. Any Ideas????? Boba are you out there, can you shed any light?

In the batch was also a second acetate which, as far as I can tell, is an unreleased one sided (fantastic) Northern track by The Baby Dolls (I'll post clip later)

ATB Andy

The sinceres were 100% kansas city (many people talk about them actually) and they went to LA to get a record deal to record. A lot of chicago people I know actually ran into them in LA when they were there (they're always like "we met bloodstone before they were bloodstone!"). There actually is a rare pre-pzazz sinceres 45 on a label called Zina I think, it's called "oh my angel", nice doowopy soul. It's the same group as the same names are on the label. That's not the acetate you have, is it? Either way, if it is the same sinceres, they could have gone to texas to try to get a deal. There were other sinceres groups, though, for example, the doowop group on richie.

Sorry, I didn't read your post carefully enough before responding -- you already said the tracks, plus you said harry williams, who was in bloodstone, is credited, so it's the same group and probably unreleased.
