Guest vegas Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I know there are quite a few 45's out of this on. Which one is the original. The one with a yellow label? The one with a split black and orange label?
Ste Henderson Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Impel is the original local release but is very hard and expensive.. on Seventy 7 there is a demo and also the yellow issue, and the re-issue multi coloured lable which i think came out in the 70s. about £100ish for the yellow and £40ish for the re-issue Steve

As a matter of interest, yes - the yellow one is the original 'Seventy 7' release. I had John Richbourg repress it - on the orange/black label - I sold 2,500 to Neil Rushton and 1,000 to my guys in Holland for the flip side 'You're Letting Me Down'. So there must be copies out there if anyone's looking for it.
Chalky Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 (edited) There'sa couple of yellow ones on ebay.com now Edited August 19, 2008 by chalky

Guest Matt Male Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 They are out there, just picked one up few weeks ago (yellow label) for £46. I prefer 'I Still Love You'. That's the one that deserves a few more plays out. Love it!
Dave Pinch Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I prefer 'I Still Love You'. That's the one that deserves a few more plays out. Love it! i agree with you there matt. incidentally its a 70s recording anyway isnt it,albeit an early one dave

[/quote Never seen the re-issue orange/black over here in Holland dewsburyborn, but I've only been here since 1991 Seen a few yellow ones tho, maybe the cloggy collecters keep the re-issue for the orange colour? bri pinch Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 ==== got a mint 77 white demo from lesta soul nite about 3 yrs ago ... best £25 ive ever spent.. MY MATE STEVE MANK PICKED UP AN IMPEL ONE FOR FOUR QUID IN THE LATE 70T'S, HOW MUCH FOR ONE NOW, MAYBE 300 QUID , INCIDENTALLY I ALWAYS THORT THAT THE SEVENTY SEVEN RED/ORANGE LABLE VARIATION IS NOT REALLY A RE-ISSUE BUT JUST A LATER DESIGN COS IT WAS ON CATALOGUE FOR A FEW YEARS JUST LIKE I STILL LOVE YOU WHICH IS BETTER AND FAR RARER IMHO. BRI PINCH.

Guest bradcam Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Another one, more RnB perhaps is "It's All Over But The Shouting" on 77 as well. I think That Beatin' in Manchester were selling them recently.
Dewsburyborn Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Ted Taylor too? Sorry, I meant Ted Ford - You're gonna need me Yes, we did Ted Ford - lots of the deep things which had originally come out on Sound Stage 7 - Little Richie too. I seem to recall that some of them were pressed on the Seventy 7 label copy - but actually had Sound Plus release prefix SP - nothing sinsiter or mystical - just that John R had thousands of the Seventy 7 backgrounds pre-printed and in those days you just printed the label copy over the top of them with the individual release details.
Maria O Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 i agree with you there matt. incidentally its a 70s recording anyway isnt it,albeit an early one dave I understood that Seventy 7 leased it from Impel in '71 for release - in the same year as the recording and original release. But I always thought the Seventy 7 was common and still only a few dollars because that charted, so it must have sold a few. Great record (wouldn't mind upgrading to an Impel), but shame it got flogged to death. m
Dennisoul Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 You'll find the gold paint on many ABC, Dunhill and TRC records - it's their equivalent of the deletion drill hole Always wondered what all that gold paint on the labels was about.
