f*** em !!!! some of them sound like they enjoy being miserable.

Or......... as I said before they cannot confirm tunes until the liscence is sorted, it is against the law.

We got Lou Pride already, so I can confirm that. Ady is sorting out some mirwood and other stuff for us.

Guy is sorting out Popcorn Wylie stuff, and the Scullsnaps should be easy as it just got re-issued.

Somehow I still think the "look at me, I really care about the scene" brigade will still not be happy though.

First time I've heard a movie that is relying on Music not haveing the licensing sorted out BEFORE filming the scenes where the music is being used? Sounds a bit suspect! How are the extras gonna sing along? What about the clapping in unison? What about the acrobatics that HAVE to be in time with the breaks or look totally shite! Yep your right F***em who really gives a sh** anyway?

Nick don't find it suspect at all that the music hasn't been sorted out. With films music usually comes later. Let's face it there's plenty of northern to choose from, and the dancing scenes aren't likely to be great big long documentary shoots are they? A few seconds on each shot I'd imagine....so not too difficult to choreograph. Might have to rename you Nit-Pik :thumbsup:

Yes your right. Suffering the anul retentive syndrome! Sorry sad.gif . Just been on a lot of film sets & done a lot of video shoots where the music was always sorted well in advance. Particularly when the scene demanded it. But like I keep repeating to myself IT'S ONLY A FILM,IT'S ONLY A FILM,IT'S ONLY A FILM! ..................................IT'S ONLY A FILM! one thing I have to say is that whilst background/incidental music does come later and is edited into the film at post production. Specific music important to a scene especially where choreography is to be used would normally be written into the script. I will now return to straightening the grass on my lawn......

Wendy it was a piece of Russ Winstanley rubbish - he said the film Saturday Night Fever was based on Wigan - in his book I think.

In a follow-up article printed in The Guardian two years ago, Mr. Cohn said he based his piece on a young man he knew in England. "My story was a fraud," he wrote. "I'd only recently arrived in New York. Far from being steeped in Brooklyn street life, I hardly knew the place. As for Vincent, my story's hero, he was largely inspired by a Shepherd's Bush mod whom I'd known in the Sixties, a one-time king of Goldhawk Road."

I just got back, I left early cos that's exactly what happened...................NOTHING!!!

Went over yesterday already and spent 4 and half hours watching the same 30 seconds being shot over and over (without being used as an extra)! Went back today and watched the same 30 seconds again...........................and still no "extras dancing" action, just standing around watching or standing around in a crowd scene...............but no dancing whatsoever and no music, so was bored out my mind most of the time. The only good bit was watching the authentic old timers doing their moves at the back and wishing I was at a proper allniter/soulnite. Wont be going to the 'recall' tomorrow.

Oh well, one lives and learns..........

Perdita

no so much of the old timers please, i was one of them, think we showed the young ones how it should be done.

i agree with you it was a bit boring

Just a quick point on the expenses side of things related to this film.

Its not just the extras that are not getting paid but also plenty of the people involved in the actual behind the scenes work are volunteers such is the limited budget of this film.

If you want travel expenses paid they will make a contribution to you but it wont be much and you have to ask for it. But surely that is to be expected if they are a low budget film with hundreds of extras.

Its nice to see a few more positive and encouraging posts on here for a change rather than the usual begrudgery.

Sandbach & Knutsford (Canute's Ford), two places steeped in NS lore & another indication of how weird this scene is.

How many other cults/sects could boast motorway services as points of reference? I don't think I've been up the M6 since 1981.

Northern Soul Dance

....Unique Northern Soul Dance Tuition

"If you love this type of music and want to learn the basics (and more) of this dance style - I can help you"

Northern Soul is a particular dance style that appeals more to people who are in their 40's or 50's. The Wigan Casino Club and Blackpool Mecca were the places to go to enjoy this type of music and to watch the dancers. If you feel you have missed out on these experiences - think again! there are many good revivals taking place around the Country that are very well attended. I can teach you and build your confidence so that you can join the great dancers on the dance floor.

My experiences of Northern Soul started when I was at school - this was my era. I cannot explain how exciting it was and thrill of the music and dance has never left me - I am passionate about it. I have been dancing since I was 9 years old and have represented my Country in top championship dance competitions - dancing is in my blood. I am now a qualified teacher of dance (in many dance styles) and have have my own dance studio with a maple, sprung dance floor in Huddersfield. of course they are using us...thats why we went....not for pay...just to be there and take part ....and do you know what? we had a great time doing it,

they came round so many times trying to keep us informed as to what was happening, they appologised so many times for running late etc....

pay does not come into the equation, it's the experience and meeting so many like minded people who just want to have fun and do something worthwhile, chatting to so many fellow casino members and soulies from far and wide.... sure it's not easy waiting to get up and do something, it's hot, dry and tiring......but to be honest never boring , just interesting as to how much these people care about getting the scenes as accurate as possible, this takes time....i do not think anyone who attended would be so dim as not to realise that running behind with the shooting was a possibility..

too many people are so negative on here .... paul, sadly you for one...these people are trying so bloody hard with this film...and on a budget too...the film crew and actors are so friendly and fun...we wish them luck with the film, we really really do....

Pete n' Susan....xx....

I agree with you Pete n Susan in respect to the taking part, I was there the first Saturday morn and even though it was only a few hours filming and dancin i really enjoyed it and have met new friends through the experience, it warmed me up for the niter I went to in Brighton the next night nicely - Jo

Don't know how many times the 'majority' have to say it.... but can't you anti's give them a break & wait for the finished article before feeling the need to tare it apart ?

Regards the choice of venue for the outside scenes (which reactivated the thread) It looks pretty good to me & wouldn't take much to transform it.

Hi, I'm hoping you can help me with something.

This is going to sound out of place on a thread where the main concern over the film is authenticity of the music and dance moves, but I actually have a cast question I was hoping you could answer. I'm the Assistant Administrator of the website www.burn-gorman.com, and I noticed on the IMDB page for "Souled Out" that Burn Gorman was linked to the film, but there has been no mention of him in any of the articles about the film and its cast, so I started to wonder if IMDB had made a mistake or if it was maybe only a small role. I would be very grateful if you could tell me a ) if he is in the film at all, and b ) a little bit about the role if he is.

Obviously if the answer to the first one is 'yes', then we'll be sure to feature the film on our site as new information comes in, and will be encouraging all our members to go see it!

Thanks,

Melissa Garrett
