Guest Adrian Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 what do you listen to your northern on? dj style deck (technics etc) or hi fi turntable? cheers mick Hi Fi turntable - my dj decks and mixer are long gone
Guest Beeks Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 I use my 1200's to listen...but I also have a USB deck to transfer records to MP3
Bjorn Nilsson Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) I've got a Luxman PD-272 turntable from ca 1980. Looks and plays better than many of the new hi-fi stuff. I just love how the tone arm looks! Project phono stage, Denon M-33 mini system and Dali Concept speakers. Only 2 x 22 W but enough for my mini apartment! Edited August 12, 2008 by B Nilsson

Espescially if you change the tone arm. Edited August 12, 2008 by B Nilsson

Nice gear and not stupid money compared to some hifi stuff. Got a homemade compact amp that sounds pretty good too...Lou Courtney was the 1st sound played through it

Got a homemade compact amp that sounds pretty good too...Lou Courtney was the 1st sound played through it i have always wanted a nice turntable and managed it with this one as it is on show so got the go ahead from my wife, i started witha technics SLb3 semi auto. then nothing for a long time then a nad turntable, then this one, my brother is the Hi Fi buff he was looking at the mitchell gyro deck but i know he went for something equally expensive. you only get out what you put in that was why i went for a good turntable, this being the source. mark
Guest Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 what do you listen to your northern on? dj style deck (technics etc) or hi fi turntable? cheers mick My iPod....got a Project turntable linked to my PC. When I get a new 45 for the collection it gets recorded onto MP3 saved to the iPod and the vinyl itself gets stored away...and brought out for occasional DJ spots. iPod links into my HiFi system or little speaker set in the kitchen and I can listen to whatever I want without having to change record every two minutes and the records remain in the same condition as when I bought them. Adam.
Guest Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 what do you listen to your northern on? cheers mick I use a Technics 1210 deck. I have an Amp that plays in Mono as well as stereo as I think 60's records sound a lot better in Mono like intended. What stereo there was back then (60's) was not very good, so I even think they sound better in Mono. The only trouble is that its very hard, if impossible, to get an amp these days that has a stereo/Mono button, it's stereo or nothing!
