Tomangoes Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I'll start of with Roger Collins - Sexy Sugar Plum You just could not get on the dancefloor when it was at its peak, regardless of its reputation today. Any more for any more? Ed
Guest Roger A. Mann Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 First round knockout, Joe Frazier??
Garethx Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Al DeLory "The Moon Racers" on A&M. I think anyone reactivating that one would be looking nervously towards the exits for people carrying tar and feathers.
Guest Matt Male Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Little Old Man - Bill Cosby (i mean come on...) and Three Little Pigs - James Duncan I'll Be All Alone - Barbara Redd (get that horse off my dancefloor!!)

SteveM Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Didn't Ed refer to "monsters" rather than run of the mill (popularity wise) sounds ? (btw I'd have plumped for "Sexy Sugar Plum" as well. and I still love it !)
Guest Awake 502 Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Didn't Ed refer to "monsters" rather than run of the mill (popularity wise) sounds ? (btw I'd have plumped for "Sexy Sugar Plum" as well. and I still love it !) So many from the Samanthas / Cleethprpes era, Rimshots, Babe Ruth, Betty Wright, Players, R.B Freeman
Jim G Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Two from Mr Levine productions, and these were massive. Reaching for the Best - The Exciters Your Magic Put a Spell on Me - L J Johnson
Jerry Hipkiss Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Jimmy Bee's "Wanting you" - just because there'd be a rash of coronorarys if people tried to stomp to it like they used to!
Little-stevie Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Two from Mr Levine productions, and these were massive. Reaching for the Best - The Exciters Your Magic Put a Spell on Me - L J Johnson This is a trip down memory lane indeed and i did have these two monsters ... Room 101 indeed... James Coit.. Black Power.. One of the first records i bought at Clifon Hall, only heard it played once since early 80s... Not sure it will have its second coming.. You can bet that quite a few off this topic are still getting spins at some place, there are many out and out oldies events on the calendar each week... Thrre Little Pigs ... What in gods name was that about, massive tune a few years ago for a short while... Its a huffing and a puffing its way to the dustbin...
Guest Ste Brazil Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Anybody remember Ronnie Dyson - Lady in Red...? Massive in the mid 80s but seemed to die a death and I've never heard it played anywhere since. Maybe it was the title that put people off? Or, come to think of it, maybe it was just awful I used to love this in the 80's, but thank God it never gets played anymore...on par with 'Love on a mountain top'... Ste.
Little-stevie Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 At first i thought the title was about people off the scene and not the tunes
