August 10, 200816 yr I saw one of these 3 years ago in New York - The Guy wanted $500 for it when the dollar was $1.60 to the pound which works out at £300 Obviously I decided not to purchase - However did pick up from another shop - Sister Sledge Atco test pressing Love dont go through no changes for $8
August 10, 200816 yr Dave Moore said: Alan Pollard has a minter too. Like Dave says I do have a minter of Fireman on Bob Crewe Productions, I have had mine for about 15 years and I bought off a well known UK dealer for £200, I was also told by the dealer that my copy was probably 1 of a maximum 18 copies in existance, where he got the information from who knows but I'm not in a position to question it. In all the years I have owned it I have never seen or heard of any of the other supposedly 17 copies until today that is. So yes I believe it is avery rare record, the only negative about owning this copy is that you don't get the wonderful B side on the Atco release as this Bob Crewe copy is single sided. Anyway it's nice to see another copy, can anyone conform how many copies could be out there, is the quote of 18 likely to be right. PS Dave I rang you this evening and left a message on your answer phone, is your spanish number the number at the bottom of the back page on There's That Beat Issue 8. Speak soon mate, Things are starting to move on the Hitsville front re treatment in Spain. Regards Alan

August 11, 200816 yr ken said: Niether its a private pressing for the producer i think ? the details on the scan shown here are clearly type-writer written, i.e. label was printed but details added later. I assume Bob Crewe took a handfull of the Atco release testpressings and stuck on his own labels, maybe to distribute the song to other artists? "private pressing" means to me, an artist or producer takes his/her own song to a pressing plant and releases it on his/her own label.

Why would Atco/Atlantic print up half dozen labels, and he is one of the biggest producers so bet they have blanks for all his stuff, bit of a Crewe cut !!.....private for his own promotional use.
