Guest Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 (edited) Saw on JM's site the track by Listen, so i went into Yutube and found Band of Joy "Ive got a secret", whata belter !!, never heard it before 100mph and some ! I have heard worse things played on t'scene ....... The Band of Joy were a 1960s rock band from Birmingham, England ......... The band is notable as the last of several line-ups included two musicians, Robert Plant and John Bonham who went on to join Led Zeppelin ; and, to a lesser degree , because the band's roadie was Noddy Holder .......... In respect of a Northern Soul connection , BOJ were formed by the late Vernon Pereira , who was related to Ian " Pep " Pereira ........... Malc Burton Edited August 9, 2008 by Malc Burton
Epic Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 The Robert Plant track "You'd Better Run" on JM's site was also done by Ruby Jones on Curtom - had a few spins at Blackpool Mecca round 74/75. Proper bloke that Robert Plant - Wolves fan - seen him at Molineux a few times.
Pete S Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 If you have a quick search you'll find some publicity shots for the group "Listen" which I posted up a couple of months back. They came from a girl who used to go out with Rob Plant at the time they released "You better run", there was a scrapbook with handwritten letters, photos, even a copy of the record - she gave it to a mate of mine. "You better run" was released at exactly the same time by The N'Betweens - two West Midlands groups releasing the same record at the same time, very strange.
Pete S Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Proper bloke that Robert Plant - Wolves fan - seen him at Molineux a few times. My brother sat next to him this one match, Plant asked my brother if he could havge a look at his 'Load of Bull' and he forgot to give it back, so Andy wrote him a letter jokingly saying you can keep the magazine but can you send us an autographed photo or something like that, within a couple of weeks he'd received a letter, the photos, and his fanzine back. 1
