sister dawn Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 OMG not heard that before... AWESOME ..... Had more of an effect on me than when Tom belts it out.... Looks like the lager fuelled Karoke just got so damn soulful ... now I have to practise
jocko Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Pretty sure Rob Marriott played it out a couple of times, it was on that great 4 CD anthology which also had Sweet Thing, that Rob definitely played out and at least one other unreleased thing was it not. Can't listen to this but does it not start with a great spoken bit. Never see that CD set for sale, don't suppose anyone has a spare lying unloved and unwanted in their loft?? Cheers Jock
Guest johnm Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 The Dells did a version of this and also the Impressions as well.
Dave Moore Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 The Dells did a version of this and also the Impressions as well. I think the song was actually written for The Dells but they originally turned it down, then of course Tom Jones' version sort of put it in the shade when it became a worldwide hit. Isn't there a version by The Belles too? Or is that the instr?
Mike Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 there's a eddie floyd verion as well, yep? almost sure same lp as thats all

Cheers Jock that would be at the time his brother Chris was turning up the Motown unissued stuff.Chris also released a couple of albums of unissued Motown material after Rob had packed up. Always loved "its not unusual", in all its guises.,,KEV.
Philippe Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 (edited) Hi Phillipe is that definitely the right CD, there is no tracklisting on them, and a couple have incomplete boxes but wouldn't mind getting that. Hi Jocko, it is a 4 CD Box set with a beautiful booklet. Here are the details on this link : The Marvin Gaye Collection "It's not unusual" is on the CD "Rare, live and unreleased"; But it would be a shame to get only one CD. I hate CD's, but I have to say this box is fantastic ! And don't forget to ask for the booklet ! Edited August 6, 2008 by Philippe
