Ricky Allen - It's A Mess I Tell You B/W Skate Boogaloo - Bright Star 150 - A stunning hidden gem of a flip to the latin influenced top side, this classy sleeper of a tune is just waiting to burst onto turntables nationwide, any record with the Jack Daniels and Johnny Moore written and production skills connection is a good start of it's quality and a sure fired winner of a tune, mid 60's Chicago Soul of the very highest order, proper pounding Northern Soul which won't break the bank, I wager there are a few copies out there waiting to be snapped up for under fifty quid, I'm sure someone will post a sound file on this one but trust me it rocks!!!!!!! A regular spin in the 'Soul Shack' of late which seems to have hit the spot with listeners.

Regards - Mark Bicknell.

I love the track Mark and could go with some plays, although I did play it about 3 years ago with no real response. One that could go up in value.

Another often overlooked gem by Ricky Allen on Bright Star is the wonderful "I'm Such A Lonely Man"

Love the Johnny & Jake version on Mod as well. Great flip too.

With you on this one, brilliant!

Slipped it in during R&B set at the Belmont and went down a treat. Probably get another airing at the 'nighter.
