Guest Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 (edited) Major flaw in your theory i'm afraid! Yeah they could get contemporaries to do the moves but who the bloody hell is gonna teach 'em how to clap at the right moment! Can't remember how we managed it, so that's a job even beyond the worlds' best choreographers!!!! Paul you'd be surprised..some of these young mods can dance y'know.. I was at a big do in Leeds a few NYE's ago and there were hundreds of young brilliiant dancing mods.. Matt Bolton had something to do with it I seem to recall. Anyway, I'm not condoning this idea. I hated 24hour party people and there was a def leppard film out a few years ago too that annoyied me too. I dont think either film got it right and when they mess with precious memories, they're always going to piss someone off.. Jayne.x. Edited July 28, 2008 by Miss BurySoul
Guest Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 (edited) Why not do the entire film in cartoon pixcels like Walt Disney story books for the large screen, ie Toy Story and Shriek etc, be brilliant if not verging on funnier and more soulfully acceptable. Was not Shriek based upon Wigan toilets and the swamp monsters within it. . Who would play Buzz Lightyear or the Chalky Queen . An interesting idea , but we need to keep it " real " in respect of " live " actors ....... The only need for CGI as far as I am concerned , would be to supplement the " faraway look " in the eyes of the ones chosen to portray the children of the night , who were riding the chemical express ...... If we must have Shrek , it must be to play ***** ******** .......... Malc Burton Edited July 28, 2008 by Malc Burton
Guest Beeks Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I hated 24hour party people Jayne.x. It wasn't the greatest movie ever...but I wasn't offended by it either...way I see it...which applies to these guys on here too...is...If you were there at the time...who gives a toss how someone else perceives it...you were there...you know how it went down...and thats all that counts

Ernie Andrews Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Hope they really research this and have scenes with dead people in bed who O/D and not waking up or people being dumped in fields because they(the driver) panicked when driving home. Wigan police station with its usual numbers for Sat/Sun Im looking forward to seeing the person who does me (The fastest foot shuffle - to Captain of my ship) bet I could beat whoever they get even if I am a fat git now! I wonder who will be the musical advisor? Kev Roberts no doubt or Mr Winstanley

Pauldonnelly Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Mr Darcy spruced up with a sheepie on flogging pay packets right stairs as you look at the stage may, just may shed some authenticity on the drama that will unfold Wigan like the Torch was all about 1- Gear 2- Looking good/cool 3- hoping the jocks had some new stuff to play 4- those selling discs were hard up cya

I hate the way the whole Madchester thing has now been glamourised, but that's for another thread another time. y'know Sean Livesey actually studied the hacienda, factory et al at uni!!.. he watched 24hour party people at uni, he loves it and thinks Tony Wilson is a god.. its SO weird having one of your mates studying stuff that you actually remember. He's telling me about stuff that he'd learned and I'm saying "yes I know, I remember that." Jayne.x. (Grumpy old bird.)
Guest Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 (edited) ...35 years later, and the big "Wigan Casino = Northern Soul" cash bandwagon continues rolling on, and on, and on... Seriously, when is enough more than enough? Surely those that actually attended the Casino really don't want their happy memories sullied with further poorly written and researched books, films, stage plays/musicals, TV programmes, magazines, CD compilations, facsimile badges, novelty rock and bubblegum cards do they? macca Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Strap a shredded wheat to my head and I'll play Wankstainly. That's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time.
Guest Chris Waterman Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 Auditions for the hundreds of dance-extras that will be needed for the high energy scenes will take place in September in Wigan's Grand Arcade. I wonder...........is this BIG screen production really going to happen or is it a cynical piece of marketing for this years Wigan Anniversary to be held in the Grand Arcade in September?
macca Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 I'm surprised more of the ceiling plaster didn't come down. During that stamping (I wouldn't call it stomping) phase through 1975 when stuff like 'what a difference a day makes', 'you sexy sugarplum', 'so is the sun' & 'the champion' were big, the very foundations must have been rocked.
Prophonics 2029 Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 then a fight 2 get in @either door With the opening out wards doors for that extra squeeze and trapping your Speedo bag in amongst 10 people back made it more fun and warmer on cold winter nights.
