Guest Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I've decided to get a pet lizard, am sorting through some things to make room for him. I am in the process of sorting out some archived records and have these available for offers. 1. Grapevine LP 'This Is Northern Soul' (This one has all the biggies on it, Delites, Lester Tipton, Betty Boo, Narbay, Al Williams etc. Its very hard to come by. The cover is dirty and scuffed, the vinyl is a US VG+ grade) 2. Delites - Lover - Destiny RARE ISSUE!! (M-) (Next to the Cuppy release (some would argue more so), this is the rarest format of the 45, a real British oddity) PM with offers, be sensible, they're not easy pieces

Pete S Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 GRRRRRRRR. PETE IS SEEING RED ME THINK'S.... SEE YOU TOMORROW AT CONOUGHT SWO Sorry didn't mean to be funny but if it had just said 'offers' that would be fair enough, but 'sensible offers' are what you make on a Cuppy original of The Delites.

Wiganer1 Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Thats okay Pete, at first glance understandable Destiny, Grapevine etc. But ask yourself this, when is the last time (if ever) you have seen a Delites Destiny Blue Issue? Here's the story behind its rarity as told to Kev Draper and I by Kev Roberts, during a visit to Hurts Yard in the very early 80's (27 years ago!!) Kev said "We had the rights to New Wanderers "This Man In Love" then Grapevine went and released it, so we (Destiny) decided to Demo only the Delites in retaliation". At the time, Kev also said, "the demo was obtainable but limited, the 'blue issue' was never released, baring a very small handful that were pressed on the tail end at the time". This was the single copy he had. ==== ive got one and its very elusive on issue!

Guest gordon russell Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 The question is ....have you ever seen an issue of the delites on blue destiny? The answer is who would want to see one.
Ernie Andrews Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Not that elusive - Seen quite a few - Think Mr Roberts might have been spinning a yarrn to promote sales!
pikeys dog Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 i've got a mental image of Kev Roberts sat on an armchair formed out of piles of Destiny singles, and glancing across his missus, shivering on a sofa made from them and saying to her.... "If you're cold, throw another Destiny issue of the Delites on the fire..."
Pete S Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I'm feeling a right tw*t now for messing up this sale so if you don't get any offers, I'll stick them on my mailing list for you so you can reach a wider audience, or I'll buy the Grapevine lp myself seeing as I haven't got it anymore! Me and my big gob.
