Mick Holdsworth Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Hello, Here's a question for you "stock" copy experts. Has anyone ever seen a US Columbia Red Stock copy of ANYTHING by Dana Valery. We all know she had a handful of recordings for the label, and we all see so many white radio station copies of all of them - "Interest" / "You" / "Zabadack" etc., but did ANY of her records actually hit the streets in the US (OR Canada ???) - Must have been very unlucky if not. Just incase a load of you come up with info about the red Columbia Special Products 70's reissue that's not what I mean. 45cellar Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 (edited) Anyone know anything ??? Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk Hi Mick I don't recall EVER seeing a Stock Copy for COLUMBIA 4-44004. I would love to see the Red Stock Copy or discover the reason why it isn't there. When my copy arrived from Soul Bowl in the 70's it came with the most Packaging I ever had for any other record from there. So at the time it must have been hard to find / replace. The only copies on PopSike.com are DEMOs, I believe that there is also a White & Black DEMO. Two DEMO's & no Stock Copy ?. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was Involved in a Similar thread regarding "Looking At Tomorrow", very similar story with 2 DEMOs & Elusive Stock copy. Then, once we had assumed that it didn't exist, one turned up on PopSike this year. Edited July 25, 2008 by 45cellar

Thanks for that - It's pretty much as I thought, although it wasn't just the obvious song, but the other Columbia records by her that I've never seen. Again , She must habe been very unlucky to have never had a release on that label. Cheers Mick https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk

45cellar Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Think your right there dave i seem to recall that one I hope it is there. Just to know that there has been a positive sighting is excellent information. So many elusive records out there, makes you wonder just how many would be viable to be made as a batch. Unless many copies made then majority destroyed / recycled.

Mick Holdsworth Posted July 26, 2008 Author Posted July 26, 2008 I saw Neil Rushton last night, he'd seen this thread and told me he had one. - Then in a flash of revelation, I asked him if it was Clive Jones' old copy - He said yes, it was from his collection when it was sold. I don't know why I had forgotten Clive had one in the 1980 period, but that's the way it is sometimes. Cheers Mick Holdsworth https://northern-soul-records.com https://motownsound.co.uk

Ian we auctioned one some (7) years back, if i remember correctly i was disappointed with the price we achieved £350-ish, i think Kenny Burrell won it or was it Kenny selling it?? he was in the equation anyway. The RED stock copy is seriously hard to find.
