Albert Petit Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Please, info about this amazing tune (for me better than J.Macfarland version). TIA
Sean Hampsey Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Released on 7" 45 and 12" on UK Blue Label Motown circa 1986. Both with Pic Covers. Sean

Chalky Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 isn't it the Bside to the "worlds rated X"... abot a £10er good version https://www.busstop-records.co.uk/detail.php?cno=DG15 it is but it's got the annoying synthesizer effects in it if memory serves me correctly........murders a good record
Dave Moore Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Always thought that the original vinyl release of Lonely Lover was as the flip to the US 12" Motown Demo of World Is Rated X. If so Albert, I have a couple of these and will put one aside for you for September.
Andyf Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 (edited) it is but it's got the annoying synthesizer effects in it if memory serves me correctly........murders a good record Spot on Chalks. I've got it on a 'dodgy' white label (with no 80's re-mix) with So Long on the flip. Edited July 23, 2008 by AndyF
Chalky Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Spot on Chalks. I've got it on a 'dodgy' white label (with no 80's re-mix) with So Long on the flip. mine was a UK issue Andy and sure it was the flip to World Is X Rated.
Sebastian Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 mine was a UK issue Andy and sure it was the flip to World Is X Rated. Here it is:
Andyf Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 mine was a UK issue Andy and sure it was the flip to World Is X Rated. Think that's the first 'legal' issue. First heard it on a mid-eighties tape. Mind you who ever did that played silly buggers with the pitch control and Marvin's voice had a certain chipmunk quality to it. No idea where the white label copies originated from (possibly much later?? )
Guest in town Mikey Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Spot on Chalks. I've got it on a 'dodgy' white label (with no 80's re-mix) with So Long on the flip. Me too. I got mine at Hinkley. I had the choice, Marvin, Anthony & The Aqua Lads or another going for about 5-600 nowadays. C'est la vie.
Guest Roddy Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 was the white labels not from the same source as the 10 inch with suspicion and other unissued motown things kicking about mid to late eighties

Marc Forrest Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 This was released as a white label alongside the unrel. Supremes, Gladys Knight and Marvelettes tunes ("Too Late for You" etc) in the late eighties, wasn`t it ? At least thats when I got them...
Pomonkey Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Haha have one of those too, Eddie Holland and the Chipmunks more like!
