Soulfool
Ever missed out on a record (or records) and regretted it afterwards? A mate sent me 5 copies of Joe Tex "I.W.B.F." asking me to sell three at £10 each and to keep two for myself, I tried flogging them but after one soul night I sent them all back to him as I never rated it!! In a record store in Memphis I picked up - and put down - an alternative version of Johnny Summers's "I.S.Y." on Yorktown and my friend picked it up and paid just $10 for it, I realised soon after my error - to damned late then of course!! Any more for anymore. David Link to comment Social source share

Not so much missed out but Messed up - I know a guy who was selling records when he first came back on the scene (pressure from his wife and all that) and accidentally sold Natural Four - Hanging on to a lie (boola boola) for a fiver at Lowton.. I think you'd call that messing up.. Jayne.x. Link to comment Social source share
Md Records
A friend of mine in Gloucester bought a record off Soul Bowl in the early Eighties thinking it to be Keb's "Vernon Garrett - This Is It I'm Leaving You Now" cover up which in fact was "Ron Baxter - This Is It" he was so disgusted that this wasn't the same disc, it eventually found it's way (before I realised and could stop him) to the local charity shop ...the record in question was "Detroit Sounds Of Friction - I'm Leaving You" Des Parker P.S. sorry about the "I'm Still Yours" Dave. Our Kid
Years ago I went into Mcr at about 3.30pm on a Saturday.Dave Whithers had a copy of The Dogs 'Soul Step' for 50.00 - loadsa dosh at the time. I thought sod it it'll break me and left it.Wandered back to the bus stop and worked out that mathematically if I restricted meself to only 17.68 beans on my toast for the next 3 months and feigned near death when the landlord turned up a couple of times it was humanly possible to afford it. Flushed with my positive calculations I legged it back to the stall (it had been 15 mins) It had been SOLD!!!!!! look i'm still sick about it now.A damn frustrating experience this vinyl addiction sometimes. Gene-r
In 1983, I was in a record shop going through their soul box. There was "Stronger Than Her Love" by The Flirtations on Festival demo for £1. Knowing it was booted, I put it back down and didn't bother with it. Next guy who looked at the box after me picked it up and, as I saw him take it out of the sleeve, realised I'd just put the original back in the box! 12 years later, I bought "Dr Truelove" by Bobby Lou & Betty Adams on Trax in a shop in Camden for £15. A couple of days later I sold it to someone via Pete Smith for £125. Now look at what it sells for! :D Link to comment Social source share

I paid £25 for my Chapter 5 in the late 70s from my old mate Tabs, it was at it's most popular then, 6 months later sold it to Clive Jones for about £36, still a rare item to find on cbs & a nice bit of british vinyl Steve (Banbury soul club) Link to comment Social source share
