Wigan Oldies

Recommended Posts

Someone asked for oldies by era, Wigan, Torch, Highland Room etc, I suggested separate topics for each so they didn't get lost or mixed and could easily be defined as an oldie from a particular venue. So to start it off lets have a week of oldies from arguable the most famous venue Wigan, early stuff, later stuff, the pop who cares!!!!! We've already had a superb Stafford topic sop this could enbd up a pretty good mini series, a better reflection of the venue than any cd will give you.

One Reason Why History will repeat itself, one day.

Records like this will never die.

Unfortunately I don't own this, but what a record.

Someone a lot younger than me will hear this for the first time and Wow!

This Scene will continue beyond my years, I'm positive.

Rock Candy - Alone With No Love - Don-Tee

Pretty sure this was Evison who played some fantastic stuff in last couple of years, not 4/4 only by any means, and quite decent soul music, believe it or not, to quote another monster of that great time.

The Twilights - You're The One - ?

Gary R, master of the new 60's that was too come, liked his beachy stuff, and in all honesty not sure this would get me as excited as it did then, but great memories of a great DJ who paved the way for sounds to come in my opinion

Just a thought who is Jay? Is it Jay Traynor ?

another thought is it Kev Roberts moonlighting it looks like him :ohmy:

Sorry Kev..

Steve

Jay Traynor up to early '63. After that it was David Blatt (formerly of the Empires) who became Jay Black apparently.

Whats that oldie that goes "im a travelling man, yes i am Im a travelling man"??? heard on some wigan recording I have DL from 77-78 I think  a richard searling play

While were on with oldies, I cant even begin to imagine this being played out... Im assuming its a wigan play - I think I would be too nervy to dance it!
