grouse Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 well, I thought it was around 20-30 on SPQR? Manship has "working for my baby" on New Faces @ 25, is that a different track? Scans of both sides of the SPQR release, uptempo version is much better, the medium tempo one is the 'b' side of Just Ask Me
grouse Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I suppose i should add a couple of records too. Leon Heywood-It's Got To Be Mellow-Decca Magictones-Happy Days-Westbound Mellow Fellows-My Baby Needs Me-Dot

Cheltsoulnights Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Fantastic tune, in my box at the moment. My favourite just now is DEON JACKSON: Love Makes The World Go Round (Carla) Just love the tune twenty years ago this was my finisher (regardless of value)
Cheltsoulnights Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Lenis Guess - working for me baby, surely not a cheapie other side to "just ask me" or is that a cheapie. on original probably more now especially as the other version of working for my baby is now heavily played

Guest Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Been having a sort through my collection, and it struck me just how many records there are out there which you can get for less than £20, which are top-quality soul records, and should be given the reactivation they deserve. We've had a few "cheap as chips" threads over the years, so allow me to reactivate it with a few more under-£20 finds. THE CRAMPTON SISTERS: I Didn't Know What Time It Was (DCP) THE EMOTIONS: I Can't Stand No More Heartaches (Brainstorm) THE YOUNG FOLK: Lonely Girl (Mar-V-Lus) RON MURPHY: Hollow Man (20th Century) THE IMPALAS: Whip It On Me (Bunky) THE FAWNS: Nothing But Love Can Save Me (Cap City) RICK & FLOYD: Baby You Got Me Going (Lasco) Let's hear about some more - over to you! What about: Manhattons- I cant stand for you to leave Willy Wily - Just be glad Deon Jackson - I can't go on Contenders - Do what you gotta do Boss Four - Walking By JJ Barnes - Forgive me Ethics - Sad Sad story Johhny Angel- Stone out of my mind Persians - I cant take it anymore Ben and the Cheers - Since you came into my life Walter Heath - you know you're wrong don't you brother Arthur Prysock - All I need is you tonight Donny Gerrard - He's always somewhere around Mighty Marvellows - I'm so confused Margie Joseph - I'll always love you All cheap if you hunt around - and loads more of similar quality!
Guest MattB Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 "The Blasters - I'm Shakin Betty" Is that a cover of Little Willie John? Be Interested to hear it if you could refosoul. Matt
