What a super dancer this was, and still is, but now apparently almost completely forgotten.

Can anyone please provide a complete UK discography of his releases, both as Little Dooley and Dooley Silverspoon ?

Indeed did any of his Little Dooley records get a release in the UK or Europe ?

Dunno 'bout the UK sunnysoul but I have "Game Players" on the Dooley Silverspoon LP on Dutch President

Bit of biographical info and a few quotes on the back of the sleeve apparantly his main ambition in life was "to become, monstrous Dooley !"

Cheers Paul

Only got to Whitchurch once, went on train. Less than a hour and half in the place to get the train home.

f...k knows how many times we had to change!

P.s. I still love Game Players.

:(:) Never thought i would see that statement on here

Great tune though  First heard it at a mates house before i was even in to Northern & loved it from the off.

Managed to get a dj copy last year off ebay for next to nothing, probably not a rare dj but i had never personally managed to come across one till then, only the issue.

Presume it was UK/Europe only ? Or did it ever get a US release ?

LP came out on UK as well.

Hadn't really thought about it before, & presuming neither the single or the LP had a US release, i wonder why ? He was a US artist & lived in the US so can't see why the powers that be thought it would only be a hit over here ?

Found this little bit, https://www.soulwalking.co.uk/Dooley%20Silverspoon.html anyone know anymore ?

well the webpage is wrong about his discography given that he had a bunch of records before north bay and the north bay even came out on the ruby label first. the picture is interesting though.

Can you enlighten us some more Bob ? Don't suppose you know why this period of his career seemed to be UK dominated do you ?

Sure, as our agent over there, you can find out

Appologise to everyone if all this is well known, it isn't to me, but then most things arn't ! :)

I actually never heard game players until I bought some UK CD, I can't remember what CD it was, it was a 2cd compilation of 70s modern cuts. In the US, his hit was "it's got to be now or never" (which is a fantastic record if you don't know it, one of my favorite records of all time), it is common on the north bay label and hard to find on the earlier ruby label. I occasionally find some of his 45s in Chicago on the cotton label. But he had several collectable 60s northern records before on koko, right? That's what I was saying about that webpage being wrong about his first record being "it's got to be now or never". I have no idea why he became a UK-focused artist. "Game players" does have that sort of UK-pop soul sound, at least to my ears.

in feb 1976 let me be the number one love was a minor uk hit reaching no 44. i think thats why they tried to repeat the trick over here with a bunch of 45s that never saw the light of day in

the states. the first 45s came out on cotton in the usa but after bump me baby made the

soul charts his records meant nothing across the pond :)

Also should point out that the U.S. 12" of the full version of "Am I Losing You" is one of the rarest 12"ers ever! A great Soulful duet and dancefloor killer whenever played in the right circles..........

Game Players originally played off LP at the Casino as a new release, came out in Uk as 45 due to massive demand, not released as a 45 in the States.

Also started getting plays again, heard it out a few times recently.
