Dylan
rare deep soul from New Orleans on the tiny river city label from a great singer. put up a previous thread requesting info but no replies. I'll stick a price of 80UK on this see how it goes. 2 copies available and 1 stopping in my collection. Its deep soul of the highest quality on both sides. cheers. hrtshpdbox
Do yours look like my copy? I'm guessing it's worth 80 pounds easily, as it's really good and just about never seen (or so I thought, surprised to hear someone has two). Not sure how Northern it is, though... Dylan
looks exactly the same. as he says its NOT northern in any way share or form. Its 2 x fantastic DEEP soul sides. glad somebody else knows it i've never seen it before so when I did snapped then up. Does seem genuinely rare. It still is "just about never seen" I don't be put off by the fact I luckily came across a couple of copies. Not aware of any more myself. so far no joy with selling this ?? quite suprised realy expected at least some interest ?? will take deep soul / sweet soul trades I consider to be of equal value. Garethx
Did You Tell Him on White Cliffs is great New Orleans deep soul. It sounds like it was cut at the same session as the River City 45 Dylan. It can be picked up quite cheaply these days, where in the past it was something of a rarity. I've often toyed with the idea of playing the other side of the White Cliffs 45 (Hey Little Chick) out in clubs. Despite nonsense lyrics it really packs a punch and has that great minor key sound of the best New Orleans Northern soul. Link to comment Social source share

Sean Hampsey
oh i've seen that one around. what style is it ? and also is it good / worth picking up ? he has quite a big discography. I've just included it on my "Records I Would Never Sell" Soul Source CD, Dylan. So its kind of... one of the greatest records of all time (IMO). Anoraks Corner
That will be "Did You Tell Him" on White Cliffs. Sean Nowp, defo wasn't the White Cliffs' disc. One of my regular suppliers had an interesting stash a few months ago...mainly big ticket Deep sides, which included Tommy's River City (and White Cliffs discs), along with some others. I seem to recall another sparse looking label, maybe yellow in colour, that looked interesting, but failed to be Northern either side (not saying that's a problem!)...so I left it. Went back and visited the bloke again yesterday...the River City 45 was still there, but the 'other' disc had gone. Hmmm. Link to comment Social source share

And here's a nice 45 by Bobby Marchan (with a reworking of his earlier Volt recording), preceding in the River City discography the Tommy Ridgley 45 for sale Link to comment Social source share
