boba Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Just for info as well Kev also came out on the Checkerboard design label, styrene copy,West Coast I presume.same no.1120.Anybody seen a demo? out of interest. with checker / chess, having the different label designs does not necessarily mean different pressing plants, as checker was constantly repressing titles, you can often find the same title in the checkerboard label, red label, light blue label, etc., often because they were pressed frequently with whatever labels they had at the time, and some are definitely later presses than others. in some cases it's clear what came first but sometimes it is.
Sebastian Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Also available on the dark/light blue design:
45cellar Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 checker 1120 have two copies of this one maroon and one red, any body know why,not why ive got two but the different colour's kev Hi Kev I have noticed the different shade of Red. Can't find the place but have seen a scan. My copy I bought from Soul Bowl and is Quite Bright in colour. The other Red is a much Darker Red & to my eyes appears to be an Older Label Batch. Could be wrong pure speculation/comparison with other Checker Numbers.
Baz Atkinson Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 FLIP IT OVER ONE OF THE BEST DEEP SOUL RECORDS EVER IMHO. BAZ A

45cellar Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Great record, Roger. I have a minty UK Black & Gold Chess issue..... ...plus the UK Acetate from Nov 65! Sean Hi Sean Both Very Nice to Own Mate. Regarding the Black & Gold UK Issue. I have a couple of copies on UK Black & Gold Issue, certainly not Mint but looked after Vg+, I notice that the Gold has faded quite a lot on my copies. Suspect a UK Mint copy even rarer due to this problem.
