I think you're very cynical. We're quite lucky on scene, many men are more interested in the records than pullin'...

I think many are genuinely more interested in having a keen and interested person (who hasn't heard the stories a million times) to talk to and reminisce with...

Jayne.x.

Its funny...the Northern scene is probably the only clubs you go to knowing full well you will never pull...its hardly dancing cheek to cheek is it haha :D

Sorry but I disagree! I met my boyfriend almost a year ago down the 100 Club.

You don't need to dance cheek to cheek to see the electricity at a do! Music can be very high-charged, emotional imo.

G'Day, great thread, as we say your as old as the woman your feeling. We're all here for a good time not a long time so lets make the most of it. There's just so much soul and not enough time. 21 ?? ask the legs after a nighter, i know what my buggers would tell me. Oh well Stay Soulful. Best from OZ.

Hi down under,

The woman i,am feeling is 15 years younger (Lou my wife) so i,am not in my 50s anymore :D

So the last 23 years i have been years younger.

The soul scene is a big family of all sorts, shapes, sizes, and ages........But then its no wonder cus soul music is ageless, and will still be here when were gone ( Hope the same can be said for the scene tho  ), Im 48 and still feel like an 18 yr old, most who know me would say l act like it too :D ,

but l dont care lm enjoying it still after 35 yrs, and dont intend to stop, so somewhere, someday, we will probably meet ........Friend,

Take care Sandi x

yep, Neil Jones and Dolly met at the 100club too - both soulie's... Personally, I'd never date a soulie again..(Have been put off for life! LOL... :D )

I like the fact that none of the guys ever come on to me. It's one of the things that I like about this scene...

Many Guys only ever chatted to me when they wanted a spot at the venue and they were getting nowhere with Neil..

I agree with what Tabs said earlier in the thread (no matter what Tony thinks! :P ) soul music is the glue between age & gender. :P

I always thought schmoozing birds at nighters was a bit off as we were there for the music and you'd get told the same, maybe with a smack round the moosh.

Everywhere I go soul-wise I get hit on

Its been happening since I was a skinny teenager wearing tiny shorts and no brassiere.... Even though I lived with someone and had Jackie Bicknell (nee Green) threatening men not to come near me laugh.gif

Even now I'm a sedate married mother of two, theres usually a hand on my bum or a nose practically in my cleavage... good job I'm not easily phased and am not adverse to a bit of attention :D

In my experience it's no different than any other night out..in fact you probably get chatted up more on the soul scene especially if you happen to be a that little bit younger like you or me Kirsty. Although you do encourage em a bit don't you girl....I mean look at that avatar :Ptongue.gif:wave:

Seriously though, I was DJing at a Club in Huddersfield ( Lord Jims) at the time and Carolyn came from Huddersfield and the very next week she was there asking for requests such as Mary Wells 'What's easy for two' - romantic or what?

Is there any other scene etc where you can have friends of such a big age diffence?

i.e. tomorrow we going to Sean,s 21st and next week we,ve got Roman,s 60th.

Perhaps for me (being and oldie in every sense of the word) is that age doesn't seem to

mattter, size of course does, it really doesn't become and issue (or a re-issue :-) at venues

or chatting about choons. I went to one of those Rimini all nighters few years ago there

was a bloke about 20 yrs old with a "Golden Torch" T shirt we giggled about it, it's whats's

in the groove that matters (unless you're into modelling then it's original paper header, red stripe,

perforated complants slip, sniffing thinners, etc:-)

Romantic isn't something she calls Julian in public very often... :D

Yes we're all there because of the music and dancing - that is first and foremost but if you happen to meet someone then that is a bonus and made all the more special that it's to a soundtrack you love right?!

Oh it's great that we can all mix. I am 27 and pretty much people who i know and see out and talk to are over 45. There's not many young ones i speak to cause when i got close to a few as friends i loose them as friends over silly things.

Yes in the Airfix modellers club, we have members as young as 10 and as 'young' as

82. It's a real joy to see these people talking and sharing their experiences with each

other. Of course the older modellers tend to go for "their era" mostly WW II stuff or

prop airliners whilst the young kids will do F-16's or even more modern stuff.

I'm told (by my Aunties, nextdoor neighbours best friends cousin) that S & M particpants

can be from 16 to 60 quite easily.......allegedly..............

We just had the 40th Anniversy of the Belgian International Plastic Modellers Society this weekend, I was checking out the ages of the participants and it's just like the current NS scene, a whole gaggle of overweight, balding blokes in their 50T's  There were a few younger men too and even women ohmy.gif !!

Just like our NS scene the older blokes dominate and know their onions, check out the pics !!

My stand (all originals - well mostly anyway ;-)

The bloke next to my stall, boy he had some stuff, I ended buying 5 models from him !!

I used to love making the Airfix models, when i was a kid, but f**ked em up big time when i (tried) to paint them

P. S. It was the 2ndWW stuff i liked best.

Agree as l have a few younger friends 20+ n i'm 40+, age is just a number.. so iv'e been told rolleyes.gif just wish after prancing around l felt a bit more 20+ than 60+ after a night out.

And you do prance around rather well my dear

Never give age a second thought.. Friends from 22 to as old as Moses...

Yes this is the only scene that could have all these different ages out at the same events...

Its very special indeed and don't let any negative shite thats been floating around tell you any different, always will be a few arseholes but most folk are just like family....

peace and love x
