boba Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Im trying to find a copy of the Northern cover of the Dawn Penn track 'No No No' Only heard it a couple of times but I think its covered by Jerry Gainey? Could be wrong? is that one of the many records that you once knew but now have forgotten?
Guest Beeks Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 is that one of the many records that you once knew but now have forgotten? No idea...perhaps it was a dream...remember it had quite a big horn section
Guest Beeks Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 ok just googled Jerry Gainey MGM and he definately did a cover so thats the one im after...knew I didnt dream it haha

jocko Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 ok just googled Jerry Gainey MGM and he definately did a cover so thats the one im after...knew I didnt dream it haha I have Jerry Gainey on MGM, among my £3.50 records,, great record, but since you have forgotten more than I know I assume no point on me posting. I also have the teen turbans on Loma but pretty sure there is no connection. Am happy to be convinced otherwise!!

jocko Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Thats the fella I gather from what Jocko says its not very hard to find if its only 3.50...so how come im having trouble? I paid 3.50 in 1982, when I was learning my trade, as we youngsters used to do, maybe not quite the same now! There is another soul version I seem to remember but at moment cant place it.
TOAD Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 WILLIE HOBBS XL THIS IS THE FIRST NEW ORLEANS VERSION A HIT I BELIVE WHICH DAWN PENN WAS THE BASIS FOR SEE J.A SECTION FOR MORE VERSIONS
Guest Johnny Sheffield Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 i've got the Jerry Ganey, reckon it's about £40 or so. I'd sell it but would rather have it than £40. One of them sorry. Think there's another version on Ace or Speciality that sounds earlier than Willie Hobbs, Gene thompson maybe?
Pete S Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 The Jerry Gainey version appears on ebay now and again at about $50. Nice version.

Pete S Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Think there's a mint copy for £100 on J.M's site at the moment. I can always play over the phone if you want to hear it. That means it's worth £50 then
