I think thats why I prefer Northern Soul (although there is no factual or theoretical definition), thats not all that as described above.

I think you have made a very sentimental and truthful statement, (actually it's a Quote). These words are lovely and this is how every body who falls in love with soul music should feel...........................Then crash we come down to earth with a bang when somebody who is so insensitive to others feeling offeres up their very vocal opinion. It's no good trying to pretend these dont exist, cus they do and over time it can wear you down and in somecases hurt sensitive soulies. l dont think that most do it intentionally l just feel they dont think before they speak, then theres the small percent....Well, lm sure most who come on these forums would have to agree they know of at least 1 person who fits the bill... sorry dont mean to be a party pooper but it's what l experience and others like every weekend at venues, yet l wont let them beat me down, l'll come on here and hope to find other threads of a similar vein, what a welcome change to hear something positive once in awhile.Well done mate.

As a dancer I love the feeling I get from dancing ...and not just to N/S

My dad taught me to jive when I was a kid ( he was a teddy boy and big Elvis fan)

When I was small ( yeah yeah I know Ive not grown much!!)he used to throw me through his legs over his shoulder around his waist and I remember the feeling vivdly the rock and roll playing in the background strange thing is I don't remember much about where we danced who else was there just the dancing

It pains me to say I didnt have much time for socialising when I used to go to dayers/nighters I was on the dancefloor lost in the music and there are very few who remember me

It literally takes you to another dimension a stress reliever and gives a natural high and freedom of expresion

I never got dance lessons when i was a kid so when i got older I made up for it by dancing at the youth club learned all the daft dances you did back then night fever/ bay city roller/grease/then along came N/S

and a different free style all of your own

Wish i could describe the way it feels in my heart when I m dancing but Im sure you all know wht I mean

You cant define everything with 'gentle words' and as one of those 'minority' types described previously, IMO, if you cant feel it, you dont get it.

As an example, Linda Jones, Just cant live my life: You cant just listen to that song, or sing along, or dance to it, it has to be all three, or you are missing out big time.
