Cleaning Records

Got a few records that are in need of a bit of a clean, anything you'd recommend, i've got a suede type flat brush but that does little but remove the light surface dirt.

At the moment I use a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water - spray it on, leave it 30 seconds, wipe it round and play while the record is still wet.

HMV sell bottles of record cleaning fluid and cleaning cloths,spray it on a couple of times both sides avoiding the label. Hold the 45 in your hand and rotate the cleaning cloth around 45. Seems to do the job for me.

I find high grade sandpaper works especially well on Modern records
