Got my first case of receiving a record broken today, after waiting 2 weeks for it to arrive i got it today in an envelope from the US with no writing on about it being fragile and no mailer, waiting for the seller to contact me back to sort it out but i have to say its gutting, atleast it was only relatively cheap but still i really wanted it!

Any worse cases of this happening?

Matt

Bought a £30 record from a guy on the south coast UK 2 months ago, he sent it in great packaging and the Royal Mail machine snapped it. No insurance on it, filled in a form, sent it off with the packaging and Royal Mail gave me the £30 and my post back, the records cracked across one side but still plays fine and I had been looking for one for 12 months or so, so try it and get your money back maybe, worth a try?

had this happen to me (fortunatly only once, postman tried to fold it in half to fit it through my letter box) seller gave me full refund. surprised it doesn't happen more often the way i've had some sent to me, no fragile notice on packaging and no cardboard stiffners.

This has happened to me 3 times in last few months

Records packaging not sturdy enough (cardboard envelopes with one stiffener)

two were refunded, other royal mail claim

but having said that the majority i recieve are well packaged

Not had any arrive broken :)

But recently I sold a Betty O"Brien Liberty issue to a lad in Scotland

When he got it, the record was broken into about 10 pieces :g:

I issued him a full refund, and then went to war with the Post office

after 4 letters, after the initial claim, and four months later I recieved a cheque for a full refund

Thay have there very own ebay claims team now, would imagine they have had a lot false claims in the past with the explosion of the internet shopping etc

Tiss such a pisser though, when its genuine, lots of wasted time

How did that happen then? :)

Its in a thread that was up last year, titled the mother of all record disasters, from what i understand the record was sent out by the guys mum in the states who just packed it in a jiffy bag :g:

on the topic of mums ...

My mate collected Marvel and DC COMICS all mint beautifully kept in folders about 2500 from the fifties through to the eighties ... he went travelling for two yearsroundasia in the early eighties he had a great time. came home and found he had outgrown his parents house and found himself a flat.

When he was packing he asked his mum where his comics were and she said oh that old lot some boy scouts came round so i gave them to them for their Jumble Sale.

dont you just love mums...
