Guest MattB Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Had a search through some old threads just to find out the story with this, i assume this was a mispress as southbound freeway, i've seen a copy like this owned by a friend, now was the original on swan? Was that the only issue? Im quite sure the others i've seen floating around are boots but there was some talk about it being a legal re-issue to coincide with a release? Also when it comes to the value i've seen them going from 275-375, with prices fluxuating so much whats the current value and what options are available to someone who wants to own a legal copy? Thanks. Matt

Guest MattB Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Matt, you are clearly a man on a mission! Ste. Ha, it seems so, shame i couldnt be doing all of this in secret! I've been doing alot of reading recently, just little things about artists and history really interest me so it's not just about buying the records, nice to know some of the story behind it etc. Re: The psychedelic sally thread, i think i need a theme tune, maybe one day i can attach Gene Chandler - Mr Big Shot to myself, haha, just gotta pump up my ego and become a trophy collector!!

'Not just about buying' ...the lad is clearly in denial, you have a problem which you need to admit to yourself first of all - repeat: 'My name is Matt, i am addicted to vinyl'.
Tim Smithers Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I think somewhere on this site there's a live video of Mr Galla singing the above track.
mischief Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Tony Galla's in love - awesome record great dancer as well.. Hope you find one witha decent price tag... anyone got an up to date boot guide what does it say in there about it?
Guest MattB Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Not you again Tim, i've only just gotten over seeing that picture!! I'll have a look for the video, such a great composition on the track, music is so so well put together. Ok, Ste, I admit it. Im hooked. I think i either need to cut off my hands, get banned from here and ebay, or find a career with a massive expendable income???

mischief Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Do you get a boot guide from manships? Yeh and worth it, mines out of date now... but come in handy.. and not expensive... well what it costs you, is less than making one mistake of a record if you get my drift...

Thanks. Matt Original by Tony Galla was on Swan too. Value? Depends on what format you want? White demo? Black issue? Yellow issue? only bootleg that I know of: yellow label, black writing. looks pretty convincing. the original yellow label issue had blue writing. official reissue: one-sided white label, black writing. done by Jayboy UK, i.e. proper reissue. I seem to recall it had a small center as well.
Raresoul45s Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Any idea of the values of the above? South bound freeway much rarer and released first as you can tell by the cat numbers, then withdrawn because of the mistake. Seems to fetch Around £400+ mint £300+ for the Tony Galla official release. Watch out for boots on the Tony Galla, South bound never booted. Cheers Darren
Harry Crosby Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 https://cgi.ebay.com/SOUTHBOUND-FREEWAY-Rev...Q2em118Q2el1247 One here matt
Sebastian Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Just a minor warning here: be sure that you're getting the MISPRESS of Southbound Freeway which plays Tony Galla before splashing £300+ on it. Copies which actually plays the proper Southbound Freeway tunes exists, and unless you're into pop-psych/garage rock you don't want that one...

Copies which actually plays the proper Southbound Freeway tunes exists, and unless you're into pop-psych/garage rock you don't want that one... They certainly do exist, there was a well known U.S. dealer at Allentown last September with the proper Southbound Freeway priced up at $400...not sure if it's worth that, or wasn't aware...but it's a proper piece of shite. SBF might be rarer that TG, but surely a proper TG is more appealing? I've got a black one, not sure which of the TG releases are harder though? The live video clip, filmed at a Festival is on Youtube.
Md Records Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 It's been rebooted very recently, on a White Promo with Sheila Ferguson on the flip. Des Parker
