We had planned to post this two weeks ago, but due to having to "box" things off in a professional manner, ensuring that our venue Brookfield's Wolverhampton, was left in the best possible hands of Max Millward for Soul Nights and Lifeline for All-nighters it has been delayed until now.

It is with mixed feelings that we post this, some of relief and some of sadness.

After 5 years of promoting NCS we have decided that it is time to call it a day.

We won't bore you with the details except to say that we have lost the desire and enjoyment to continue promoting in the ever increasing "Clashing Soul Calendar"

Marcelle & I would like to thank all NCS Resident DJs, at CIS Manchester, Wulfrun Hall Wolverhampton, Queens Hall Stoke, VSC London, Melody's Birmingham and lastly Brookfield's Wolverhampton, our Co promoters in these venues,

Max Millward, Neil Rushden, Phil Richards and Mace.

We would also like to thank the many people who have supported our venues, over the years and we look forward to joining you all as "punters" on a dance floor in the future.

I don't know you both all that well ,let on a few times .

I have seen you about and been to your nights (CIS ) and have to say you came over very professional whenever I attended your do's.

Promoting is not an easy thing to do and as in all things in life sometimes it's best to step back and recalculate. you have to have a bloody thick skin to shoulder the trials and tribs of a promoter.

I think you can take great satisfaction and comfort in the countless posts on here applauding your efforts .What hits home to me is how much your success has affected many souls across the country. The posts stretch the whole of the UK.

Don't take it all too seriously , I have seen a few not to mention them (I shall spare their  ) that retire then appear to work even more so when they bounce back three weeks later :(

Take a break and come back on a small scale , don't risk too much , have a fun with it and remember "Two can have a paaaaaaaaaarty" , always remember that cause that is most IMPORTANT .

God I am even beginning to sound like a manc

"It's a funny old game" & don't you two just know it?? Well Chris it's time to come to the dark side my friend & may the force be with you. So don't forget that makes you one of us now, so you & Marcelle have got to talk to me & at least pretend your interested in what I'm saying, even whilst having a fixed smile & a glazed expression on your face, seriously you two, all the best for everything you do in the future & now come & have some fun with the "Starey Scarey People", you know it makes sense.

Take care, be safe & remember, "Always look on the bright side of life",

Spot. :(

This is a sad day for the scene but hopefully a new start for yourselves. I hope you can look forward to a much more relaxed time out and about in the knowledge your massive efforts were welcomed and above all respected.

Sad news indeed.... Was there at the start of it all in Manchester.... You can walk around with your head held high; unlike some other fu+kers who are lower than a snakes belly  .. Ther will be some pondlife that think they have won the battle now  ; 3 faced ego merchants who can;t look anyone decent in the face...

The early events at the CIS really stand out for many people, those all niters brought a lot of people on this forum together for the first time.... Without the CIS there would have been no Ducie Bridge warm up; some of the best times of my long soul life..... John May:Brett:Shane:Pete:Jamie:Rich:Dave:Little Richard:Nick Hackett:Reg:Rachel:Paul B:Ferrett:Mike Hughes:Blade for life:Vaults of soul: and many many more made it all so special::

Time to relax now with good friends around you for nights out...

Well, looks like one of the Chiefs have gone but still plenty of Indians around. As a promoter I know that once the fun and passion have gone its bloody hard to keep going.

Shame it had to be someone with big ideas, the balls to put on 'the impossible' and vision. Unfortunately the Northern scene is very unforgiving - once you're gone, you're gone but let's hope you're back soon Chris. Remember, you're a long time retired so don't be away too long.

Best wishes for the future and I'm sure you'll be successful no matter what you turn your hand to.

Thanks for the oppertunity to DJ for you, we always found it a pleasure, having been shown respect and treated as one would wish, and might i add always having been paid, no matter if turn outs were low!!

See you soon.......Paul n Sandi xx

Sorry to hear the news Chris and Marcel. Allways enjoyed your nights. I hope whoever fills the gap left by NCS has as much imagination when it comes to line ups as you two did! The scene will be the poorer for your decision to bow out, but i don't blame you... Thanks for the good times and see you both soon.

sad day mate, after five years and you two had to put up with a few arseholes on the scene.

I noticed a fellow promoter sends his regards on this post, but fk me he,s putting a allnighter on in september the same nite you were originally running the brookfields nighter, what hope is there when fellow promoters clash against you,no wonder you have had enough.

best

Sorry to hear this guys.

Your nights at the CIS were what got me and the lads into the music. It totally changed our lives and now we have our own night running. Without you two I would never have met half the guys I know on the scene and life would be very different for me.

And may I add that Chris used to let me into his nights for free cos I was a young lad with no money and he looked after me from the start cos he knew how much I loved it.

I will never ever forget the first time I walked into the main room at the CIS. It was my first nighter and a really special moment for me. Then I met Steve Cato and it all went down hill!!!!

Maybe we'll see you both down Beat Boutique one month and you can see how far we've come from the spotty faces students that used to frequent your night.

Paul B aka the student (even though I'm 26 and getting married next month they still call me that)

It was a joy and a pleasure to be there at the start and the birth of NCSC with you and Lee, a real honour to be one of the original resident DJ's despite all the ducking and diving we had to do at the start, you commitment, passion, dedication and love for the music and the scene was your driving force, Mr Waterman, Lee, Marcelle and everyone else connected with your promotions are a real class act, kick back guy's and enjoy the tuneage, you have left a major imprint on this scene that you shoul be very proud of, thanks for letting me play some small part in the NCSC legacy.

Regards - Mark Bicknell.

There's an echo in the room.... biggrin.gif 'it was a joy and a pleasure to dj for you, Lee and Marcelle at the start of NCSC' - it was a thrill to get the handbag back to the rightful owner wink.giflaugh.gif Jo xxx
