Guest Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) is this right,if so utter madness , another case of supply and demand over rarity Dave f................... Ref: Lee Fields - Angle 3. To be honest we're in utter shock at the final price. But there were 3 TOP DJs scrapping it out, plus a serious collector. it had a total of 54 bids, i'll have to check but i think that may be a record..no pun intended. Edited June 18, 2008 by john manship
pikeys dog Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 There was one on this week with a £160 reserve. Same seller had sold it in the past for that price , so he'd either got multiples, or the first one hadn't been paid for.

Guest Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 is this right,if so utter madness , another case of supply and demand over rarity Dave f................... Somebody told me Butch is playing it, if so it shows the power of the DJ. I bid on a copy on ebay about 3 years ago and it went for £75 which I thought was expensive!! I like the flip side as well, Tyras Theme? This side used to get plays in the Northeast.

Modernsoulsucks Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 In future John I'd use "spellchecker" . Morons is spelt "M-O-R-O-N-S", not "Topdjs" Curly,Larry and Moe I assume. ROD

Butch started the revival on this but it's popular for a number of DJ's. Always fills the floor down this way.
KevH Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Butch started the revival on this but it's popular for a number of DJ's. Always fills the floor down this way. When i played it a couple of years back it was " used to be played back in the day.40 quid tops". Quite right ,old Mecca tune.Everybody's got one. Butch gets a hold of it and whoosh...........but £757?.You couldn't make it up. Double sider tho'.....£378.50 each. .
KevH Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 400 for lee fields... is that the correct price................or an offer. To buy/sell.

Dave Fleming Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Ref: Lee Fields - Angle 3. there were 3 TOP DJs scrapping it out, plus a serious collector. 3 Top Djs after it ,not exactly a ground breaking 45,been played up and down the country by varoius Djs/Collectors for a couple of years now,if there Top Djs i think they should be a bit more adventurous in there choices IMHO, or they should of brought it back in the day when most people did because they LIKED it,and not wait untill Mr D plays it,then it becomes there MUST have, again just IMO Dave f............

Top DJs maybe but obviously shite at finding records - what was wrong with any of the multitude of copies to have come up for sale in the past couple of years, then...too cheap at 30% that price?
Steve G Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 3 Top Djs after it ,not exactly a ground breaking 45,been played Dave f............ Agree, not ground breaking - over the last few months it's actually become something of a play safe floor filler
Ted Massey Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 When i played it a couple of years back it was " used to be played back in the day.40 quid tops". Quite right ,old Mecca tune.Everybody's got one. Val (Chunky) Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I used to want a copy of Lee Fields but I'm sick of hearing it now
Marc Forrest Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I used to want a copy of Lee Fields but I'm sick of hearing it now Same with me despite that I am not sick of hearing it but now sick of the price Sold his other on Angle 3 at 20 USD recently which indicates to you what the price on this should really be like bearing in mind the quantity of this tune. Marc
Chalky Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I used to want a copy of Lee Fields but I'm sick of hearing it now Same with me despite that I am not sick of hearing it but now sick of the price Sold his other on Angle 3 at 20 USD recently which indicates to you what the price on this should really be like bearing in mind the quantity of this tune. Marc It's a great record but I stopped wanting one when the price went into three figures.
Chalky Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Bet the only people saying SEVILLE IS A GOOD PRICE IS THE ONES WHO HAVE GOT ONE I said I thought it was a good price and I don't have one
Chalky Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Butch started the revival on this but it's popular for a number of DJ's. Always fills the floor down this way. I personally remember Andy Dyson spinning this before Butch but regardless every tom dick and harriet wants it now. Top DJs maybe but obviously shite at finding records - what was wrong with any of the multitude of copies to have come up for sale in the past couple of years, then...too cheap at 30% that price? whats wrong with the top dj's finding summat else to play rather than everyone hammer one particular track to death as in this case the scene would be far better off and fresher with dj's playing different records, suppose thats a different arguement in a different topic though!
Corbett80 Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 (edited) Such a shame about Lee Fields...wanted this for ages and just kept missing them at £40 or £50 quid although I have to say they weren't exactly piling out of the woodwork for me....but now.... Edited June 19, 2008 by mulf
Martint Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Agree, not ground breaking - over the last few months it's actually become something of a play safe floor filler and that's precisely why some people are probably falling over themselves to buy it now
Guest Gavin Page Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I said I thought it was a good price and I don't have one It's a great price and I want one
Corbett80 Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Have to say on listening to it again now thats its expensive it does sound a lot better. I think its value has definitely improved it as a piece of soul music.
Ezzie Brown Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I personally remember Andy Dyson spinning this before Butch but regardless every tom dick and harriet wants it now. whats wrong with the top dj's finding summat else to play rather than everyone hammer one particular track to death as in this case the scene would be far better off and fresher with dj's playing different records, suppose thats a different arguement in a different topic though! some of the top djs play to crowds that think price and who plays a record dictates quality and nought else, and dont want to lose there spot on the ladder of djs...........i saw a mate play 3 records to no response,an hour later a "big name" played same 3 and filled the floor!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????? . a record becomes a different item once certain folk grant there approval, the sheep discussion again i think,! ezzie ps glad that some of these djs are still diggin out great stuff as well
Corbett80 Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 (edited) ps. Going by the 12" price for the Return To Spanish Harlem, what would be the current value on a tidy 7" copy on Speed? The flip of it, Already Satisfied is a brilliant latin dancer as well.... Edited June 19, 2008 by mulf
